Oh my.... posting my own "how to" question.
>>

I prefer to go completely bare at this point in time. Waxing is not an option for me for many reasons. I have been using a safety razor as best I can. Still, there are just some places where it is so hard to reach!

I had a friend suggesting using a dilapatory. Last I had heard, these should not be used near mucas membranes. Does anyone have experience in this regard? Shaving doesnt seem to be enough. Waxing is not an option. Any more tips? Other methods?

Thanks for your time and experienced suggestions. :)

you could have do permanent lasering it off, research it through google. though there may be side effects such as scarring so be careful!

I'm a huge fan of IPL/laser hair removal. Sure, if they burn you you might scar slightly, but if you go to someone who is experienced then the side effects are minimal (and so is the remianing hair! :D) I have olive skin which makes it harder to treat as it's more likely to 'tan' with each treatment. I've had several different types of laser/IPL and no bad reactions to any of them. Just remember that it is PERMANENT, so if you think you might want hair again there one day, don't do it.

There are heaps of threads about shaving, creams, waxing etc etc - check out the stick "Black Manual" at the top of the forum.

Eeek.
Yeah. I'm not looking for that kind of solution. Nothing that takes a salon or Dr.'s appointment, please.

I'm looking for tips on those who handle this sort of thing at home. :p

I'll be sure to check out the stickied manual. :) Thank you for pointing it out. :)

have you tried using conditioner instead of shaving gel? before i got the guts to start waxing this worked well for me, as well as a brand new blade on a 3 or 4 bladed razor.

is pain tolerance one of the reasons for not waxing? if not, then you could try plucking........

Its more of an issue of funds, time and preference.
I would like to be bare. I would like to do it at home. ;)

For a girl who can barely afford a hair cut? A brazillion is sort of out of the question when it comes to the list of priorities. I'm also not looking for anything permanent.

I am all on board with the the "slightly used 3 blade razor" (very new = bad), and yes! I use conditioner.

So, I suppose the answer is that unless I go salon or medical, I'm about as smooth as I can get? :\

Well no, there is a special depilatory that porn stars use that is safe to use in that area, male and female porn stars use it. You can find it in the nicer porn shops, the ones that carry more than just videos and magazines. I believe you can find it online as well, Adam & Eve may carry it.

A search on google for something like personal depilatory, or simply go to your favorite porn shop online and see if they carry it. I don't remember the name of it but I recall it was only like $6 for a small jar of it so it wouldn't be extra expensive.

I have to shave my face daily for work, and I get -terrible- razor burn, and cut the bejeebers out of myself daily. I've experemented with several razors/creams, and whatnot, and the best I've found for my face is a day old Fusion. It's a little more expensive, but worth every penny in my book. You might want to try that.
Since the blades are closer together, you'll need to rinse the razor more often, but it puts less stress on your skin, I think. And if it does not work, well, you got your S.O. a gift... It might be usefull to him.

Barring that, they have home wax kits that can be cheap and effective, but again, they are waxing, and differetn people tollorate different amounts a pain.

Good luck, and keep us posted. Because if it works for you, I might try some of the solutions presented here on my face...

if i'm not getting nosy, what's the going price for stuff like that?

Schick Quattro Power razor (you can use any of the Quattro blades) +
King of Shaves Gel (in a blue-green tube) or Shave Secret oil +
Shaving when the skin is totally warm and wet +
Shaving in different directions +
Rinsing the blades out between strokes +
Shaving often
= Total smoothness

You might find you can't get a certain patch smooth, no matter what. Some of us can't get the center of our mound/pad above the pubic bone (if you're a guy, that'd be the area directly above the cock, where most of the hair grows) smooth and irritation-free, no matter how much we shave, or what procedure we use. So, we usually stick with trimming or leaving that area alone.

To get your ass crack, try stretching your legs, then putting one up on the shower wall, or squatting down and reaching through your legs. I do Hubby's for him for ease, but he can do it himself, if absolutely necessary.

A lot of people have had good luck with Magic Shave Powder, available in the Ethnic Male hair or shave section of Walmart and most drug stores. Do the test on an area that's sensitive but won't rub, then wait 24 hours if you try this! You might try very carefully applying a thin layer of vasoline over mucous membranes first, too, if the test goes okay and you're worried about it causing problems on those bits.

my big problem with shaving has been the unbearable itching-my sister says suck it up and live with it but there must be a solution isn't there?

Yeah, if you keep shaving, like daily, your skin will adjust, and it won't itch anymore. I've been shaving regularly for several years, and now I can go a month or more w/o shaving at all, with no itching upon startup. And any itching I might get will go away with a couple of shaves.

Likewise, the skin adjusts after awhile, and any irritation is greatly minimized after that point.

The itching occurs when the hair grows out enough to irritate the skin. If you don't let it grow out, or the skin is otherwise 'inoculated' against that kind of irritation, there's no, or very minimal, itching.

thank you SweetErika-i'll take your advice-heads off to the shower with a fresh fluffy towel ;)

i shave on a daily basis. I refuse to use shave gel. I use conditioner - it keeps the area smooth and easier to shave.
My suggestion, use the 'hair remover' lotion for the areas you cannot reach or even all of it.
It might help if waxing is out of the question. Nads seems to work great from what i've been told. If your going to use the hair removing lotion, make sure its for sensitive skin though - if you get the regular ol' stuff, it might leave a bit of an irritating rash.
hope this helps.

You're very welcome.

*Don't* shave if you have irritation/razor burn. Wait until it subsides, then pick up shaving in that area again asap. If you think you might have irritated something, you can guard against it developing into more major irritation with some hydrocortisone cream immediately after you pat the area dry.

Wearing comfy cotton panties, or no undies, helps too, I find. Synthetics and tight underwear tend to cause irritation and more itching.

If you're doing anything that produces sweat down there or will be in the heat, put some unscented, solid deodorant/antiperspirant (like Sure Unscented) on after you've patted the shaved area dry. I don't recommend doing this on a regular basis, but it can really help ward off irritation and itching on hot summer days and during heavy exercise. Hair helps wick moisture away from the skin, so when you shave, it has nowhere to go and can cause chafing.

Apart from creating an unpleasant smell, the problem with conditioner and other products with a long list of chemically-ingredients is they're full of junk and can cause vaginal infections, just like feminine hygiene products (sprays, creams, powders) and soaps. If you find yourself feeling or smelling funky, consider using different shave product.

The Shave Secret oil I mentioned (Walmart, $2-3, IIRC, but it really lasts) is just two natural oils (clove oil and something else). It's cooling/tingly, but not unpleasant, and it also won't make your bits smell like perfume if you get oral immediately after. King of Shaves gel also contains clove oil, which is a natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, to minimize irritation and infection.

Otherwise, just keep at it. The other bonus of shaving often is you get really fast at it, and it's a lot easier to maintain. It takes me about a minute to touch up my shave when I do it daily, and just a few minutes if I've let it go for several days.

I've done a combination of shave with shaving cream (ass and what I call undercarriage ;)), wax (top side) and shave with Kitty Kreme (right around the start of the slit), all at the same time.

The Kitty Kreme (and I lurve the smell of the Forbidden Fruit), which feels like conditioner and not like shaving cream, is really awesome. I haven't been able to see my waxer for a while, so I may try to do the whole top this evening with it.

If you can't find it at a local adult store, Amazon has it.

Sweet Erika.. good tips.. just not helpful for everyone. I'm a redhead and I can't shave. I get awful rash regardless of how often or what I use. Even using the Bikini Zone cream didn't help.

Home waxing isn't that expensive, it's just awkward to do. Frankly I'd rather pay the sadist to do it for me. I am in the process of teaching my boy how to do it... he asked to learn as he is tired of hearing me bitch and moan about the times the sadist misses bits. He's sweet and a tad OCD so I know once he learns the right technique he will be fabulous. Plus for some reason it doesn't hurt nearly as much when he does it.

Short of that.. I like the shaving cream from Body Shop.. the guy's one that comes in a little tub and you apply with a shaving brush. It was the one that I used that caused me the least irritation. Having someone else do it is freakin' hot too. Was the best foreplay when I was with the ex. Not to mention he can get the angles that I couldn't. Also, for me I find the lower number of blades work better. I used to use the ones with the protective wires over the head.. cuts on the labia fucking hurt and bleed like a sonofabitch. Certainly no more then 3 blades... and semen in an open cut stings.

For the person that suggested plucking.. OMFG are you serious?!?!?!!! Do you know how much that would hurt??? Not to mention how long it would take!! The sadist as used her tweezers a few times on the strays or ingrowns and plucking one at a time hurts far more then ripping 100+ out in one go... no thanks. Would be the perfect night when I'm feeling the heavy pull of my sadistic side... but I wouldn't be the *victim*... err.. *volunteer* for this...

I use King of Shaves products. They have great shaving oil, and gels, for men and women. They are great.

They also have different types for more sensitive skin and this is great for the pubic region.

This may solve your issues..

Whereabouts would one get these King of Shaves items, other than online? If there is no place offline, where is the best place to get them online?

I think the KoS website lists retailers, and even has a zip-code thingy to find specific stores in your area.

I've found them at Target and Walgreens at the very least. They might be at Walmart and RiteAid as well. If you decide you like them, you can probably get a few tubes/bottles cheaper online. That's what I'm going to do as we start to run out of the gel (Hubs LOVES it for his face, too). You don't need that much though (maybe a nickel-sized drop for the public area?), so one tube lasts quite awhile.

The ingredients in the oil are easy enough to even make your own version at home:
Ingredients: Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf juice, PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus leaf oil, Menthol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea tree) oil, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) leaf oil, Cinnamomum Camphora (Camphor) Bark Oil, Limonene, CI 61565 (Green 6).

Just get some grapeseed, eucalyptus, vitamin E, tea tree and/or clove oil, mix it up in small batches in one of those flip-spout bottles that allows for dispensing a little at a time, put some into your hand, rub it on the area, add water, and shave, rinsing your blade and re-wetting the area often.

The Shave Secret Oil is definitely at Walmart and only has two ingredients, IIRC, so it'd be even easier to make.

A lot of those ingredients can be had cheaply at Walmart, SuperSupplements, natural food stores, aromatherapy/massage stores and online.

A most important thread and thanks

from all of the nature lovers of the world :) This is truly one area where more evangelists are needed!

I have had the same issue recently. I havent taken it all off before, but since ive started it is SO much nicer.
I use my conditioner first in the shower, then trim with sharp scissors and a comb. Then, i use some of that hair removal cream. I tried veet but its not great, smells a bit funny, and is quite strong on sensitive skin. In Boots, i found some really good stuff, which is their own brand, and it comes with some special moisturising cream for after. it is a sachet, smells nice, is sensitive and works a treat!
Hope this helps :)
