Your story is in the queue and will be approved when the moderators get to it. Usually less than 2 weeks.

Spell things right

It also helps if your first thread is at least 400 words long, has some relation to the writer guidelines, and uses proper grammar and punctuation. Putting up a one or two sentence 1st thread, and using IM slang will not help you get a story approved.

And, use spellcheck or some equivalent. While there are one or two prolific authors who don't, it hurts them by turning off writers who might otherwise contribute to their stories. My opinion anyway.

Yeah he's right cuz I usually will not accept a story if there is a lot of spelling errors and grammar errors.

All I see is that was wrong with that post is the cuz part...and I don't really try to be correct when it comes to grammar on the forums.

I know that. I agree. Still perhaps ironic to some degree.

As to grammar, some missing commas and "are a lot of spelling errors", not "is". Technically. You spelled 'grammar' correctly, so that's all I care about. :)

I thought you were being ironic (or sarcastic?) on purpose by making a few errors.

Yeah that's what I was doing. You got me. ;)Just kidding, I wasn't really paying attention to what I was typing. But I use Wordperfect to check the grammar on stories.

It's been a week since I posted my new story. What happens if it takes more than a two weeks to get it approved?

You keep waiting - that's what. Eventually a mod will get to it and approve/deny it.

In the mean time you can give us the link to the story.

Not really, In fact, it's better if you don't wait. This way we can tell you if there's a problem that could get the story denied.

You suggested it, so here it is, the link to my as-yet-unapproved story:

All comments welcome! It's my first time starting a story so I would like to know what people think.

It's good. You should add more threads. That would give other authors directions to get inspired by and a better idea of how you envision the rules of the world. I think a few branches being ready when a story is started really helps get other people interested.

I am waiting for it to get approved before I add more. I didn't want to write a bunch and then end up having to edit a whole bunch of chapters because the mods made me change things. Starting the story with an attempted murder might be controversial. I intend to take care of that story thread in the first addition, both so the story doesn't immediately become too dark and to give other authors a more open slate, rather than having to deal with these guys.

Your starting thread seems nowhere near the limits that would cause an issue with approval.

I would second GoodBoy741's encouragement to develop more threads to give writers a sense of John's character in terms of his hopes, fears, relationships and the people in his life currently (beyond being the butt of Mike's harassment for being a "nerd"). Having some clues about the source of "The Power" might be useful -- for example, does it have any unexpected side effects? (Not like "The Monkey's Paw", where the wishes are fulfilled in the nastiest way possible, but maybe like "Forbidden Planet", where the wisher's unconscious desires figure into what happens).

Keeping a story active by adding occasionally will help attract writers. Adding a follow-up thread to someone's contributed thread is also a mark of approval and encouragement to the contributor.

Good writing to you!

If you're waiting until the story is approved, that's fine, just make sure that you do add more threads. Nothing keeps people away from a story more than the sense that the author has lost interest in it.

Okay, so this discussion can stop, it's approved.
