Maybe Ive missed something...

But there is one thing, that I feel literotica lacks. And thats a short summery - or intruduction - to the stories. Perhaps just as a pop-up when you scroll you mouse over the title? The categories are useful, but I miss a bit more feeling with what kind of story im about to read. Too many times ive been halfways in the story discovering this was something completely different from what id suspected!

in other erotic story sites the author writes a short introduction to his story, so it much easier to see what the storys about.

or perhaps a searching box, where you could put in some keywords to find a story that had the words or subjects.

anyone else whos thought of the lack of information? am i missing something?

or do you just keep openminded and read whatever pops up?

They do have "keyword" fields that the author fills out when posting the story; you can search for key words by using them in the search engine feature. It's true, though, that this is hit or miss; it's all down to what the author thought were key concepts, and there's some confusion as to whether we ought to be using the fields to identify key concepts or to identify specific details that would help someone find a partly-remembered past read.

Personally, I would favor the type of multiple identifier fields other sites use instead of categories, but I do recognize that re-coding the existing stories would be an almost impossible task. Still, I wonder if we couldn't just start multi-coing new stories and issue each old story one tag based on the category in which it's located; active authors could do back and add more, while older works would still have some identifier on them.

the keyword field is a pain in the neck to fill in. And evidntly, there's an "Auto keyword" function, which doesn't work on my browser- you get keywords like "Sally's leg" and "Bruce cock"- and wierder, less coherent combinations of words.
Like Shanglan, I've thought that what's stopping the site from upgrading its search and descriptions functions is exactly that- the task of going through all those old stories. And Shanglan's suggestions is the only solution I've ever been able to come up with, myself.

Another site I post on once in a while, just changed servers and revamped its database. it has caused three months of problems the newslist was flooded with the question "WHY CAN"T I POST??? WHY CAN'T I READ???" and once the site was back online, connections was intermittent to say the least- hundreds of thousands of users all trying to get their fix in at the same time....

It's a daunting technical problem.
