I like this - because it could work equally well for when you're 'doing homework' (catching up on work stuff), and gets your kid used to the idea that you've got other responsibilities, the courtesy of knocking, and that you sometimes need some time when you focus on other things. You could also talk about emergency situations, when it's ok to interrupt.

I'd have to agree with you there... I'm pretty sure the Oedipus complex is a normal part of growing up, but it happens when you're too young for it to be a sexual thing (as far as we mostly refer to "sexual things" here anyway).

I'd leave it alone unless he asks, which isn't likely, especially if he's got any inkling as to what you were doing. If he does ask, just tell him that you were having some personal time and don't care to discuss it further, this boundary being that you do not discuss sex in terms of what you do/prefer specifically, but will discuss any topic openly with him in general terms. What this means is what happens in your bedroom, behind a closed door, is your business and no one else's.

One other word of advice, put a lock on your bedroom door. The best way to do this is to replace the existing doorknob with a locking style. A "bedroom/bathroom" knob would be best, but you can also use a keyed entry style lock if you want to maintain total control over the room, even when you're not there.
