i think a more important question you should be asking is why are you so insensitive? Once you answer that one, I think you may find the answer to your questions. It doesn't matter why...it simply is.

I met her through work, but we do not work together. I've gotten to know her quite well. She is married so I'm not trying to make a pass. She has great boobs and I though it might be alright to tell her how much I admire them. Kind of like saying what a nice smile someone has. I realize with the sexual aspect it is a little more difficult to say something without coming off like a creep. If some woman said I had a nice ass or something I certainly wouldn't be offended, but guys are wired different I know.

That there would be the way to do it! You know you're referring to her boobs, she hears the compliment on her attire. When you know a person well enough, you can have more direct comments, gestures, and innuendo without it being harassment. Until that time, keep comments none personal in nature, you'll both be happier for it.
