Well, my husband kind of figured it out before I did.
But I told my inlaws by buying a picture frame that said "With love to grandma & grandpa" and put the due date on the place where the picture went. It was great!!
Congrats- I wrote it on my t-shirt
"THERE IS A BABY IN HERE"
with a big arrow pointing to my belly, he was totally shocked and actually looked at the floor to see where the baby was-reason 43,987 he is the ex-to tell the family I drew little faces on eggs and served them in nests...
The best way anyone ever found out they were going to be a daddy -
My friend took her spouse to a restaurant( after calling ahead to arrange this)it was their"special place.
They sat down and then the waiter brought over a highchair that was decorated in ribbons-the husband said "We don't need this,"
The waiter replied,"Oh yes you do."
He was elated, and they had a bottle of sparkling apple cider and the whole restaurant clapped and cheered.
I can't advise how, but tell your mate A.S.A.P. Personally, however, I think that a couple should take there time in telling everyone else. So much can happen in the first month or so that I don't think it's best to just take some time.
I was living w/ my b/f at the time when I became pregnant. I hadn't talked to my parents (or really any family) in several months due to stubborn pride. My family found out I was pregnant after I was 6 mos. along. I just dropped the bomb on my mother at that time...
My best friend Jason found this E-mail greeting card site that he swore had cards for everything.. and he sent everyone on his mailing list this E-mail card with hearts and two cherubs holding a banner that said "I'm not pregnant."
Thank you all for the wonderful ideas!
I think I am going to do a combination of a few of them... but it will be hard to decide which ones!
You are all so great!
Baby #1 - Wife came home from work and went into the bathroom. I talked to her through the door (we had been trying for 7 months and I was not thinking about "the test") yet. She just came out with a big smile holding the test stick. After I said "what" to her a couple of times, I got a clue.
Baby #2 - I came home from work to find a sign on the door. It said "Daddy, I am going to be a big sister. Love Lauren." then it had the pregnancy test taped to the poster.
Now they are 5 & 3...and I cannot imagine (or barely remember) life without them!!
