How the hell do people take good pics with a web cam or digicam?

My mom just gave me this 3-in-1 digital camera that she bought months ago and never used.

Well, I took it home tonight, downloaded the drivers, etc... and then tried to take pictures. The only way I could get it to take any fucking pictures was to shine a flashlight directly into the lens, and all of the pictures came out halfassed.
I'm so annoyed right now.

some cameras are just not that good if you got a bright overhead light it might help. but try your best to keep from having to have the light right into the camera like that. keep tha room bright but avoid taking pictures of the light. sorry if i cant really help ya.

Just like anything else that takes som amount of skill and coordination.
Gotta use it a lot until it is almost second nature how to do it right.

Creativity and practice. I also have to have a light near my cam for anything to really come out clearly. It was a pain at first until I got used to it. Most of my pics turn out ok now.

Sure.

Cheap digital cameras require LOTS of light, preferably not tungsten light (normal incandescent bulbs) Bright sunlight or flourescents work best.

Given the penchant for the Ladies of Lit to cry about how bad their pictures are, they'll come flocking to see just how bad the pictures are.

Harold's correct, my first diggi camera was a cheep $20 polaroid w/no flash or memory card and wasn't good for indoors w/o some really decent lighting, but outside in the sun it takes a decent picture. If you're going to try to take indoor ones make sure the subject matter is well lite and have some light behind the camera

Also, a decent photo program can help make crappy ones look better as far as edits

Now, back to that nipple of yours ......

Lighting is everything with these babies.
My puter room is quite light with big windows which makes it easier.
Artificial light of any kind kinda throws mine all weird.

I take probably a hundred pics before i get one i'm happy with.
