How the Republican Party establishment can steal the nomination from Donald Trump
"This isn't constitutional law", Wead said. "This is the private country club called the Grand Old Party and it writes its own rules."

The question of the moment is how those rules could be bent to deny the Donald the nomination.

Wead listed 15 dirty tricks the party could try in a blog post headlined "How the Establishment Will Now Try to Steal the Nomination from Donald Trump".

Included is an effort to eliminate that eight-state threshold for getting nominated. That worked for the establishment last time, but at the moment only Trump has a majority of delegates in more than eight states.

But the most important item on Wead's list is "Make sure that you have your own people chosen as delegates to the convention."
Tromp has a minimal ground operation. His people won't be allowed to write rules or control delegates. The party can do what it wants. Will his followers then burn down the convention hall? Will Cleveland-2016 make CHicago-1968 look tame?

Trump is a consummate deal maker. He will have a deal to offer the GOP. If agreed, the only thing of interest will be the race to see who reneges on it first - Trump or the GOP.

GOP is dead

The GOP as it was once known and respected is dead, awaiting burial. As a teen I worked for the GOP to get Senator Barry Goldwater elected. With fools like McDonnell controlling the GOP, I plan on switching parties and voting a straight Democratic ticket from now on.

If the GOP establishment steals the nomination from Donald Trump the Republican nomination will be worthless, in this election and in subsequent elections.

As a Democrat I welcome the divisions in the GOP, but I like a lot of what Trump is saying.

The 1968 Democratic convention was a riot aimed at the Johnson Administration's Vietnam War.

Folks hate Trump cuz he wants to get them good jobs and stop illegal crime. What an asshole!

No, folks hate Trump because he's a congenital (and outrageous) liar and, unlike you who have drunk his Kool-Aid, they know that he won't hold to a single promise he's made/position he's taken if it isn't convenient for him to do so any given day/hour/minute.

ROFL!

He outsources to Mexico and China, hires illegals from Poland. Yeah! He's the man alrighty

What if the Cleveland convention were to retire to that smoky backroom and what would happen?

Ohio Sen. Kenny Yuko to introduce medical marijuana bill

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio lawmakers could take a look at a medical marijuana bill as soon as next month, but it's unclear whether Statehouse Republican leaders will support the legislation.

Why the rush?

Yuko said lawmakers need to pass the bill before they leave Columbus in June for their summer break. Legislators likely won't return to work until after the November election and by then, action could be moot.

Three constitutional amendments legalizing medical marijuana have been proposed this year, and polls show Ohio voters overwhelmingly support medical marijuana.

So lawmakers want to get in the drivers seats to shape the legislation that will establish the structure of this multi-Million dollar enterprise.

So with all this foo-for-all about Medical Marijuana, what about recreational pot?

Medical marijuana amendment resubmitted, qualifying conditions added

"There's a mountain of evidence demonstrating medical marijuana can be beneficial in the treatment of a variety of debilitating conditions," Marijuana Policy Project spokesman Mason Tvert said in a statement. "Our goal is to make sure any seriously ill person who could benefit from medical marijuana will be able to access it safely and legally if their doctor recommends it."

Tvert said Ohio would be the first state to allow medical marijuana as a treatment for CTE, a degenerative brain disease found in professional football players and others who have experienced repeated brain trauma.

Medical marijuana patients would need to obtain a recommendation from a physician with whom they have a "physician-patient relationship" before applying for a patient ID card. Patients could grow up to six marijuana plants. They could also buy and possess up to 2.5 ounces of usable marijuana -- enough for about 150 marijuana cigarettes.

What if...

The smokey back room was filled with Republican wanta bees, news of a gathering of party leaders and Supreme Delegates had been leaked and everyone wanted some face time in what was described as a casual affair.

One Senator banged a gavel on the table, "Order Fellow Delegates, Order. We have gathered to discuss an issue that will mean much to our political futures, the Legalization of Marijuana."
A stunned silence and then a buzz as some were shocked by the very idea.

The Senator brushed back his steely grey hair and said, "From polling in my state, and in Ohio it seems that the status quo is no longer a viable position. The Party must address this issue to make sure we come down on the Right Side of it."

The buzz increased and he banged the gavel again, order resumed, but for a few muttering incantations against Satan, under their breath.

"The issue is a national one, with the whole west coast going to pot..."

Guffaws sprang out but degenerated into subdued chuckling.

"As I understand it, the issue hinges on the Schedule One rating of Marijuana at the Federal level, so my question is: Should Marijuana be rescheduled to allow Medical research and Pharmaceutical research to establish one way or another if it is beneficial or not?"

Muttering took over as delegates, spin misters discussed this and slightly tippsy interns giggled a bit.

"In order to discuss this from a rational level, servers will be passing out chocolates infused with "Colorado's finest Brain Food" examples. Please take only one, as over indulgence is a sin."

One thing lead to another and , then another and the platform was built with Marijuana, a casual Friday dress code mandating bikini tops for all Delegates, male or female, because of the man boobs of many delegates.

A surprise last minute plank of free abortions was injected after a meeting of the Interns and Hookers caucus. It seems none of them wanted to raise up a Republican Bastard.

some day, you should apply yourself for a real job

My doctor asked me if there was any history of mental illness in my family.
I had to admit that some of them are Trump supporters. But they're only half as crazy as the Cruz supporters.

I have to admit to having some Trump and Cruz supporters in the family. Trumpettes are the part of the family that "love his honesty." Cruzers are those who are Born Again.

John Kasich: When Delegates Enter The Convention, "Something Magical Happens To Them"

KASICH: Well, George, you know look, we prepare for all occasions, but let me also tell you, I went to a convention in 1976 as a young man, actually worked directly with Governor Reagan at the time. And when delegates go to a convention, they’re old hand. Some of them are legislators. Some of them have worked in the vineyards helping people to get elected. And when they go into the convention, something magical happens to them.

They begin to feel the real weight in regard to decision-making in regard to who wins in the fall and, secondly, this one’s serious, who could be president. Because they begin to realize that they are going to be held accountable and they are going to be responsible for making sure we pick somebody who can be commander in chief, leader of the free world, and can beat Hillary Clinton in the fall. And I’m the only one that consistently does it.

I hope he wears his lucky socks too. He'll need some luck in Cleveland.

Just In: Koch Brothers Launch Secret Plot To Steal GOP Nomination For Paul Ryan

Ryan has refused to run before, but with $Millions of $Republican$ looking to Dump Trump, it's a thought.

It would appear that the oligarchs that manipulate the puppet strings of the Republican Party are quite displeased with the commanding lead that abrasive rabblerouser Donald Trump has seized in the GOP’s primary. A new report surfaced today that alleged that free-market extremist Charles Koch is “quite confident” that the party establishment will be able to thwart the will of conservative voters and hand the nomination to their chosen champion, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).

Republican strategist Alex Castellanos explained how this would happen: “f Mr. Trump is one hundred or more votes away from the nomination, it is unlikely he can find the delegates to get the ball in the end zone on the first ballot. He will turn the ball over on downs though nearly at the goal line. (OK, no more sports metaphors.) On the second ballot, he drops 200 or 300 votes or more and starts bleeding. Ultimately, he bleeds to death on the convention floor — which you think would be good news for the candidate in second place, Senator Ted Cruz, unless, of course, you’ve met Senator Ted Cruz. If GOP delegates start looking for an alternative to both Trump and Senator Cruz, why settle for Miss Ohio when you could marry Miss America? Why not wipe the slate clean and go for what delegates really want, the Republican Speaker?

Think about it, he'd have no baggage from the primaries and he could be Mr. Clean to Hillary's Wicked Witch? That would be a problem for many Independents.

I wouldn't call it stealing, because that denotes something illegal, and nothing like that is going to happen. Maybe cheating or snookering or something like that.

Trump should have no complaint about such an action. When he talked about his many bankruptcies, he described them as being legal, and therefore alright. They are legal, but they are certainly dishonest because they cheated his business associates, who had to accept conditions inferior to those they had expected and which had been agreed to.

If he can (legally) cheat others, what would make him think he is immune to being cheated?

Democrat should be trying like hell to get Trump nominated. It would assure them of a victory come November.

Good point but Trump isn't the one I think you have to convince there was no foul.

The MILLIONS of disenfranchised voters the GOP gave the finger though?

There will be hell to pay and this might be the very last election the GOP gets to write a check and walk off like this.

They put the gun to their head, if they convention the nomination off to some Wall St. dick sucking RINO who won't be a damn bit of different from Hillary they are pulling the trigger and I expect to see large numbers of republicans getting fired.

It's still stealing. It's been a while since I played any sports and I could give a fuck less about pro sports. Did the PC crowd invade basketball and baseball or do you still steal balls and bases? Or are those people charged with a crime?

If not the term is still used and correctly for when you snatch something. I stole a victory. It was a competition but when you come back from getting stomped people often use that term.

In this case it's a blatant abuse of the mechanics. Sure it's legal but it ain't moral and Dems. It's disgusting and hopefully the rules get rewritten.

But as Bot points out it won't matter one bit if Trump is okay or even impressed with their manuever. His underlings are rabid dogs.

I must respectfully disagree with you on this and here is why.

Language.

If it's written into law/rule that you can extort, steal, cheat and murder all you want and somehow it's not the same in most peoples minds to the extent we have developed different terms to use.

When the rules allow for extortion we call it 'taxation' or 'dues' and I'm sure I'm missing a hefty list of other terms used that can very easily be boiled down to stealing/extortion/theft. But as long as the rules the majority agreed upon are followed it's not really stealing. Kinda like taxation isn't really extortion....even though extortion is exactly what the fuck it is.

When rules of law allow for murder it's called 'capital punishment' / ' justifiable homicide' etc.

Which terms are used very much denote context and they almost always are not interchangeable if the context is there to be had.

I assume that your point lies not with them having changed the terms in baseball or basketball. :D

I don't disagree with you, but I think even by those standards what they are attempting to do to Trump is immoral at the least. I mean I get that the reason we even HAVE lawyers is because rules exist to be manipluated but there are definitely some lines that you're not supposed to cross.

And I'm generally a fan of having MORE words not less. I especially hate taxes since not JUST politicians but people in general abuse the fuck out of that. I mean I've heard plenty of people make BOTH of these statements.

"Obama won't raise taxes. Hmm. Liquor tax went up, tobacco tax went up, medical device tax went up. Sounds like he increased taxes!"

"47% of Americans pay no taxes!"

These are largely mutually exclusive mind you. Especially when you factor in sales tax, gas tax, property tax. I mean if you find someone who is managing to dodge all of that you're basically talking about a homeless person or a kid with no allowance.

The Republican Party can do what they want with respect to how they manage their platform, convention rules, delegate allocation, rules on votes on the floor, who can be considered as a candidate, etc. Unless you are a member of the party in a leadership role there is little say you have in the matter and there is nothing wrong with that.

Now, how the rank and file react to their decisions is a different animal. And whether or not people want to continue to self-identify or continue their enrollment is their decision.

But it is their Party and they have every right to provide for its stewardship as they see fit. Same for the Democrats and their strange decision to have Super Delegates, which is turning off a lot of that rank and file membership. You want it to be different, join the party and work your way up through the ranks.
