I'm reading through some of my stories and realizing how long it's been since I've written pretty much anything.

I really need to get my groove back. I've really got to start writing again... but I've said that before and not done it.

Anybody else currently experiencing a dry spell or who's experienced one in the past? Like to commiserate?

How did you get your groove back?

same same. i put it down to being tied at work and then when i get the free time i lose the mood.

commiserations {{{sweetnpetite}}}

so far the groove has remained elusive.

I have plenty of muse, but no time at all. I get home from work, read through the threads while I snack and watch a bit of TV, then am off to bed. For me to write, I need hours of uninterrupted time. Otherwise I just can't seem to get it right. I keep hoping that free time will happen next week, but since I've been thinking that for the last 9 months, I'm not holding my breath.

How about the Halloween challenge? Apparantly, anything scary qualifies. Witches? Ceremonies and potions? That sounds fun.

Sometimes, you have to jar the creativity loose with a change in your writing routine, like trying a POV you've never written from, or a different approach? - maybe like a Seinfeld episode, where all these different elements get tied up in a knot at the end.

Or use one of your poems, and figure out how to work it into the story. Maybe it's the clue to the location of the duffle bag containing the money from the bank heist. Or maybe it's the reason the gal rejects the guy, (after trying him out first.)

Or a story based on a new aquaintance. Or an old friend from high school who suddenly appears, driving a Ferrari and drinking Cuervo from a bottle. He wants to take you back to Hollywood, but he's got this entourage... (Okay, I've been watching my Entourage DVD.)

Or a line from the blurt thread. (Lines from movies are good too. Also songs.)

Maybe a strange fetish - this gal can't get aroused unless she's listening to AC DC. Then she meets a guy who's into Barry White, and she discovers she's multi-orgasmic.

having a long dry spell myself. I've written a couple of poems in the last few months, but that's it, and a couple of story starts.

Gonna try and finish up the Halloween story I started last year in time for the contest this year. *sigh*

Just breaking out of the funk I've been in to some extent. I'm still struggling with days where I have zero motivation. Usually happens to me in the middle of chapter stories or series continuations at some point. I have to break out and write things on the side, usually something silly or pure stroke that doesn't require a lot of thought. Then I move to some sort of stand-alone story ( or three ) and I can usually work my way back into those continuing sagas.

Fortunately, I took advantage of my last productive streak and still have a two chapter cushion to carry me through.

My muse really works fine most of the time. It's my ability to channel her enthusiasm through my overworked hinder that's lacking. I have to shake my system up.

I haven't posted or finished anything in about two years. I have plenty of ideas, but utterly lack the motivation to see them through. What has inspired me in the past was writing in sentence or paragraph challenges when I had a block. A little forced jump start always helps get the creative juices flowing.

My problem is I spend too much time worrying everything I write is crap and not actually working to be a better writer.

I'm trying to write even with the dry spell. Started trying a few of the writing challeneges to see if that jogged anything into place. Trying to write a variety of things today outside of my norm. Some I dont post though incase I want to use them later and I am going to write a halloween story if it kills me. Might try a few categories just to jump start the brain.

I'm on a countinuous dry spell. For sometime I can't seem to write a word, then I wake up one morning and a story just pours out.

I got 10 chapters into Novel #2 and have been stuck for months. I started Novel #3 and go to chapter 6. Now I'm stuck. But I sat down and wrote they year's Halloween story in a couple hours and have been polishing it for days.

I expect Novel #2 will never be finished, but Novel #3 will be done the first half of next year.

It's all kind of hit or miss.

Taking on Alison Kent's 70 Days of Sweat challenge has really helped me step up a gear. I've written 50k in just over a month so far -and there will be another challenge either in October or November if you're interested.

The community aspect really helps me, it gives me the motivation I need to sit and write.

Think I may be coming out of a dry spell after having been stuck in one story for weeks.

I think the trick is to work on a number of different stories at once. And since I have more plots lying around than I'll ever get written, that shouldn't be a problem.

Usually, my writer's block comes from getting stuck with some part of a story that just doesn't work. And somehow I can't decide to a) rewrite the entire part or b) just let it rest and work on something else.

Being extremely busy working didn't help either...
