You realized there was no santa.

Or, at least no Santa who is one person.

Or something like that.

Last night, my hubby, my aunt, and I had just barely gotten done with our 'santa' distribution, when down the stairs comes a sleepy eyed 5 year old lil girl. Yup, just minutes after we got done. She stumbled in, looked around, and noticed the presants. Got all excited, and we ended up letting her open one (Nutcracker Barbie, the hit of the entire season for her) and then shoo'ed her back to bed.

Well, then this morning... We are opening presants, and hubby hands her a presant from 'Santa'. He told her who it was from, and she told him,

"Nu uh! That's the same paper mom uses!"

So... I am thinking that next year, we will have to buy (and hide) a seperate roll or two of 'santa' paper. I am also thinking that it will not be long now before my baby tells me those infamous words.

"Mom, I don't believe in Santa anymore!"

When I was a little girl about 8 i had already given up on santa. That year through accident and bad luck we entered the season broke. My parents told me that it would be a very lean christmas. My dad, who was a good woodworker, was hurt and could not put even those skills to work. The toys for tots came through for my parents and for me. I have always felt that santa actually wears a marine dress uniform.

My mom's line for the, "it's the paper mom uses" was, "Santa sometimes doesn't have time to wrap them all...and so he leaves some for mom to wrap."

That worked on my siblings :)
I don't recall when I noticed there wasn't a Santa...somewhere around 9 or 10, I guess.

I realized at 6 years old, 2 weeks before christmas

I asked. "Mom, howcome if Santa brings a present and it's broken. you bring it back to the store and it has to be a specific store.... and you have a recipet for it? and how come some of santa's gifts have price tages if he makes them. What about the money too, dad will say to me he can't aford for santa to bring that gift? do You have to pay santa back for the prestens. I really don't think there is a santa. none of that makes sence..."

it was at this point someone grabed me by the back of my collar and draged me into the laundry room lol. cause my 3 year old brother was listning to everything I was saying :)

"Listen I know your smarter then most kids your age and I can't think of anymore believealbe lies, do NOT let your brother know santa dosen't exist"
"I KNEW YOU WERE LIEING. Nothing made sence. You have to learn to lie better mom I would have said Santa can't make some toys you see in the catalogs cause they are copywrited so he has to buy them and you pay him back."

I remeber that word for word, it will always be in my memory.
was one of the first times I outsmarted my parents cause I heard my mom tell my dad later that night. "Damnit he's smart, he's right I SHOULD have came up with an answer like that, but couldn't think fast enough"

:D :D

I think I was about 8 or 9 when my parents told me that there was no Santa. And I accepted that.

But I couldn't convince the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy about that theory.;)

I was told that Santa was just a made-up story from the beginning. My parents believed in honesty to a fault, and felt that telling me there was a Santa would be a lie.

It's interesting that, although I was raised religiously, I have considered myself an atheist for the last ten years or so. Coincidence? I think not. ;)

I was eight when my Mom told me the truth about Santa. I had NO clue. My younger sister had figured it out though.

Her son is now 5, the age she was when she figured it out and I can tell, she's already waiting for him to say something.

In this as in many other things, he's my child. He truly still believes.

Santa doesn't wrap the big things in our house so the wrapping paper isn't a big deal. You could always say that Santa must have bought his wrapping paper at the same store.

The Santa Spirit

I was about 7 years old when I realized that Santa did not actually deliver the presents each year. (I had already started to question the idea since we didn't have a fireplace for him to slide down!)

It was also the year that my family's Christmas Eve "grownup" party turned into a rather loud and entertaining night (including my aunt singing and playing my new electric organ, and my new pet, a yellow canary, singing her heart out!).

From that point on it didn't matter to me, and I preferred the "idea" of a Santa Claus rather than the thought of some bearded guy landing on my roof and sneaking in to leave the gifts!

Santa

Gilly, there is always a Santa for each of us. Every year, every month, there is someone who gives something to us that is unexpected and kind and that is my Santa to me. I have always believed and will continue to until there is no more good things done for me or my family.
