How old are the forums?

I know the story end of the site came on-line in the late 90s, and I started hanging around there not too long after the turn of the century. (I just love saying that!) I know my "join date" here on the forum end is listed as 2010, although I might have been here occasionally before that—whatever username I had back then has been lost in computer deaths. So, consistently here since 2010.

But how long have the forums actually been up and running?

The first time I was here, there was no DCL that I recall, and there were only maybe 30 people posting. Threads like "how do I start a thread?". Pretty lame.
