How often do you accidentally delete your work

I don't think so. Ctrl-Z is "Undo", so if you do accidentally delete something, that can help.
It's more of a problem if your Word or other programme crashes/locks up and you cannot perform any actions and must hope that the autosave has saved most of the work you did.
Yeah, I get in the habit of manually saving every time I've written more than a few words, at this point it's a reflex. To the point where if I'm writing a long post here, I'll sometimes accidentally try to Ctrl-S the web page!

OK, apologies. I thought you might have been referring to ctrl-c to copy the work to the clipboard; I see what you mean now. Good point
To be fair, if you're writing something in a place like this where the interface can occasionally lose text, pasting to clipboard can also be a good idea! Just not the one I was thinking of.

Not any more. I'm a firm believer in regular backups and if I mark large chunks of text for moving/formatting, I'll make sure to save first. So even if I delete instead of cutting, I'll always have a saved copy to fall back on. Also, since I do a lot of rewrites, I put the cut content into an "outtakes" file, in case I might need it.

One Drive automatically backs up my document as I write it. Occasionally I'll see a glitch that it didn't autosave but that's usually due to beta releases of office that I'm testing.

Cmd-Z for the šŸ side Undo. It's my happy spot Cmd-Z,X,C,V,A,S,D. My G-spot is work in progress

As for accidentals, I run Time Machine which has saved my life on several occasions, though when writing you still might lose a paragraph or two.

Which direction does the disk on the "Machine" turn to move forward in time to recover the writing you haven't written yet? I really, really want a shortcut on this writing thing! :)

Ah, I see. I was referencing the book and two movies, The Time Machine. I think, in Time After Time, Malcome McDowell, as H.G. Wells says, "If you spin to the left, you go forward in time, to the right backward." or something to that effect, It's been about 16 years since I watched that movie. And one never leaves the key in the machine if they aren't in it, and remember, should the key be pulled out, the person moves in time minus the machine. And there is no coming back from that! :)
