I am a new author here at Literotica but an older author at another site (even there, I've only been doing this for four or five months). My editor and I have been preparing one of my stories on that site for posting here (the first two chapters are awaiting approval), and have reached the horns of a dilemma. The story involves a young man, Kenny, and older woman, Robin, and the older woman's daughter, Terry. Most of the sexual activity is between Robin and Kenny, in the context of preparing for a beauty/sex contest. They do fall in love, but it's more of a platonic love (albeit with sex). Trust me, it's a funny, tender story (called "Show Moms" - actually my favorite of the stories I've written).
My question is this. Kenny does fall in love with the daughter, Terry, and they do make love. In my first posting of this story, I didn't show any of that (or a subsequent scene in which Kenny is with both Robin and Terry in a hotel room). Essentially, I thought it took too much away from the Robin-Kenny storyline, and the Robin-Kenny relationship. Some of my readers were a little annoyed at the omission. Some were a lot annoyed. Another part of it, though, was that I wasn't as comfortable writing sex scenes then as I am now (no better maybe, but more comfortable).
What do you think? In what circumstances should we, as authors leave the sexual element unspoken? How much should we listen to the vox populi?
