How many words before sex...

I try to get my characters (and thus readers) thinking about sex on the first page. They may not get it (or even a kiss) for a few more pages.

Less than a thousand. Someone's at least thinking or talking about sex within 500 words.

I think this is an admirable (and effective) approach. So much of arousal is Anticipation.

I concur.

When it fits the story, I like to have a little something sexual right up front, even in the opening paragraph. It might be as simple as the MC rolling around in his/her birthday suit, but enough to (hopefully) snag the reader enough to stick around.

My current WIP is a bad auntie story, I've just hit 6300 words before they even took their clothes off. I hope the I/T crowd likes some character-building. :sneaky:

The novel I finished doesn't have sex until like chapter 15. It be like that sometimes.

I've started a story with a woman on her knees, mouth full. Just depends on where we begin the tale lol
