I was wondering you guys and gals manage to write your sex scenes in one sitting or ... does it take a few tries because you get hmmm, distracted?

That has been known to happen. :D

But seriously, most of the time I'll try to rough out a complete sex scene in one sitting, then re-write, and re-write, and re-write, etc..

Rumple Foreskin

It usually takes me more than one sitting.

But that's because I like long, sensual, teasing sex. In both writing and real life. One shouldn't rush the things they enjoy. ;)

Sometimes I am struck by pure genius, and I'll just type the whole thing out no issue. Come back, re-read and be like "Wow, I wrote that? that's pretty good"

Other times, I'll start, stop, start stop. And tweak this tweak that... is that even possible? *erase*

and then sometimes I'll write the whole thing, reread it and ago "ewww... what the hell?" and then erase the whole thing and start from scratch.

Actually, with my current story. I'll write the whole story out, realise it didn't flow the way I wanted it to, and then trash the whole thing and start over. I'm just about always pleased with the second time around cause it flows properly.

Most of mine take two or three sittings, but I do rush things (bad habit).

Now and then there are moments of pure inspiration that everything is there, poof, instantly.

And there are the ones that get inspired, I get *distracted* the distraction is soooo hot I then feel inspired to get it all out at once then go *distract myself* some more.

It can take more than one sitting, but that's because my sex scenes tend to be lengthy. I don't get "distracted" in the way you suggest, but for the days or weeks I'm writing a porn story I exist in a state of heightened libido that is delightful.

Depends...

Sometimes I change the scene five or ten times before I get the one I want (several sittings)...then sometimes, it just gets to flowing, pardon the pun, and you don't want to turn it off until it's done...then a few tweaks and it's just the way you want it (one sitting)...

How about up against a wall...from behind?

Name the wall, baby.

ooops. Stay on topic.

Actually a lot of my stuff is very long and I write over a period of several days.

I always write my sex scenes in one sitting, and they are plenty long and explicit. It has to be one sitting because I write the scene as it unfolds in my head, to stop for mere physical relief would be mental coitus interruptus. Also, I feel a bit detached as I write the scene, as if I were riding along rather than participating myself.

For me, when it comes to the actual sex scene it usually takes one sitting. I can generally make a decent first draft. Then, I normally have to go back to it and refine it, clarify the action, etc.

A particularly long or involved scene can take more than one sitting. A quickie (one or two paragraphs in length) might only be part of a writing session, or a short session.

Getting to the real point of the original question, when I first started writing I tended to get worked up in the process. As I've written more and improved, I focus too much on the writing itself, and less on the sex, although there certainly are exceptions.

I hardly ever finish anything in one sitting.

Except for those inspired (usually late at night) sessions where everything just flows (no pun intended) and I can get through half a story or an entire chapter, sex scenes and all.

I dunno, I haven't written a sex scene in quite a while, the piece I just finished is around 21,000 words with no sex.

One sitting to write it, two or three more passes to polish the turd. After that, you have to let it go, man, even if you think it could be made better and better with further obsessing. That way lies madness.....

Barring an unforeseen interruption, I write all my scenes in one sitting. I plant myself and commit to getting what I want down on the virtual paper. I do that in my non-erotic writing, too. I just put my ass in the chair and don't move until the scene is where I want it. I'll edit later, or throw the whole thing out, but as of yet I have never totally re-written anything. With word processing these days what exactly does a "draft" mean?

For my blurts, if it ain't done in 15 minutes, it's a loss....most of the time. :D

Most of my stories tend to run long as they are not just for stroke shall we say. The few short ones have almost all been in one sitting, everything else is sit, sit, and sit again. Some are there and will always be there no matter how often i sit....

As for getting distracted, I have from time to time but then again I also have a meter in front of me at all times that shows how hot the story is.... Sometimes it gets overheated and needs to be cooled..... ;) :D

Sometimes I'm able to draft something in one sitting but if I do, I probably will do a lot of expanding as I edit. I always leave it alone for a little bit and come back to edit before sending it on to my volunteer reader.

I have to put off the distractions until later, or I will never finish the sex scene. I can't write if I'm that relaxed.

Not that I have written much in the last year...
(I've been too relaxed ;) )
