I've pretended to be a guy a lot. Everyone believed it, which was funny. I never had my masculinity questioned, though my femininity was often up for debate not due to my portrayal of it, but just because femininity is always up for debate.
I came here from a roleplay community where nobody actually gave a good damn one way or the other. It's still jarring for me to find people that think that an avatar, some text and a stated F or M means it's so.
I still don't really care. If you're a guy, good job.
If the internet makes someone uncomfortable with all the ambiguity, they should go to a PTA meeting.
The person upset by it should perhaps take the hint that they are possibly not in their natural habitat.

First, I want to know if I'm a fake or real female?
Second, I roleplayed a male character in a text based game for about four years. It was extremely fun and highly interesting, but it got a little too heady in the end (pun!). As a male my character was wildly popular and I achieved more in less time. In this text based game, the female characters who were popular, were the ones being played by extremely smart puppeteers. Even in RP female characters must work harder to be successful. Male characters are given some kind of pass. Guess who were the most judgmental, snobby, hypercritical puppeteers... women. But this is something I always knew, women tear each other down, that's how we compete, like nasty fucking backstabbing jealous bitches- just look around this forum. Something else, the camaraderie I found playing with other males was amazing. There was only one odd instance that stands out, I ended up teaming with a Swede male playing a male character, and soon after he found out that my male character was played by an irl female, it got weird, then he quit, never came back, just gone.
