Nothing nicer than being found by you!

Hope everything is just swell with you!

I WAS vixenshe. But I had it changed by Laurel. I have no alts. I don't have TIME for them.

If you do a search you would be surprised how many different versions of Wizard there are.
I am the original one and have always used this one when bitching or commenting on threads.
Some of the older members might recall “Ben the Beer bear” which myself and another member would use to play around with the lady’s and flirt a while but he left and Ben soon departed after that.:D

When did that happen?! I think I have been living under a rock...

I'm just me.

I would imagine a switch would (and maybe should), have an alt, though.
Why? Just because someone is a switch doesn't mean they have two separate personalities!

(The suggestion reminds me of that thread where we are all supposed to be using different colors to indicate our roles :D )

I use all sorts of different names on different boards, but I only have one name per board.

Heck, I try to use the same name on all the boards I post at......:D

Don't they, though?

Well, maybe not different personalities, but different something.

Nope. I know there are a number of switches on this board who can attest to this. I would be very surprised if a different s/n was actually called for.

Got to agree with Wiz. I've got enough problems remembering all the passwords for different sites and services. If I had to remember more screen names, too, I'd need another freakin' computer just to store the s/n's and associated passwords. Too much trouble. I'm me - Sir Winston - and with only a couple of exceptions, from old, old accounts, various modifications of the Sir Winston name are what I use.

I have a feeling there are people who have more than one screen name here, but after reading nearly two pages of posts from people who don't ever feel the need to hide (?) those people are not speaking up...

So, um, I will. :D

I will tell you that I have 2 screen names. I came up with this one because I was a very regular GB poster (back in the day) and really didn't want any of my friends nosing around and discovering a side of me that I was still discovering myself.

I don't post very often with either name, now... but the GB games/annoyances have flustered me enough that I thought I'd pop on over here for a bit today.

Like Miss T said, at one point "My social life seemed to be centered around lit..." too. I guess this name was my way of retreating from the limelight.

4 months ago? Something like that. And you haven't been living under a rock.. I just haven't posted in this forum in some time.

Ok, yes. Well, I tried anyway.

I was going through a rough time awhile back and my posts here really relfected it. I was angry and obnoxious, and I wanted to put distance between myself and that person. But I couldn't figure out how to post under the new name, so we're all stuck with me as Redelicious.

It's just as well, really. Right or wrong, I'm me. I wouldn't know how to develop a whole new online persona/posting style. An observant person would have figured it out right away.

Yep and I have.

Again, this dated back to my addictive days at lit. I knew posters so well by their writings that there were some who changed nicks and it was very easy to guess who they were.

ditto
I tried every version of my nick at other sites that I could think of and they were all gone, yet the SOB's never post under any of them

I think the only time alts are really noticed is when they're obnoxious and/or hurtful.

Yes, and if someone wants to find something to start lit drama....

the games people play.

This behavior seems to be more prevalent on the GB, but who knows?

I've got two Lit ids but I only post under this one. The other is for submitting stories --- if I ever get around to it. I think I may have posted some 7 or 8 times under the other id, but no one "knows" me under that name.

I'm bridgeburner most places but have a different name for the forum I moderate ----although at one point I toyed with the idea of becoming bridgeburner there as well. Decided against it.

As for spotting multiples, it depends on the forum and how well I know the folks. There are some people here that I would recognize and others that I know well who are bright enough and crafty enough to fool me if they put their minds to it.

I've been a long time member of another forum and I'm pretty good at spotting multiples there --- we had a rash of them for awhile. Much of spotting such is dependent on how much interaction you have with the supposed multiple.

It's okay. *wink*

I tend to agree with Bridgeburner. I believe that there are people who are smart and calculating enough to carry it off, and who could fool even their friends. I just don't think I'm one of those people.

And here's another thing... I've suspected names as alts before, but never said anything. Why? Because the burden of proof would have been on me and I have no hard evidence to back up my intuition. If there is a way to determine someone's identity on the internet I sure don't know what it is.
