IF I get 50 personal emails a week, that'a alot. 25-35 business emails per week would be my best bet, and not as much spam as I used to get.
When I sign up for some service, I use the company or product name whose site I'm one, and my domain name for my email address - i.e.-whateverco@herenow.com works wonders in getting rid of spam, because if I get an email to that adress, I know who's mailing list they got my email addy from.
Wow. I never realized how far below the average I am. Starfish, I'm closer to your number. Between my three accounts, I get 5-10 a day, counting all school, personal, and spam.
I have four e-mail accounts just to manage the volume I get. I get anywhere from 50-100 from a listserv I'm on, 10-20 from real life friends or family, 50 school related, 10 related to my website, 3-4 good ones from literotica (my favorite ). I can't even tell you the number of spam I get. Hotmail is horrible for it, but the e-mail I have through my ISP doesn't get any spam.
Hell, some weeks I don't get any personal mail. On average, though, about 4 a week. About 10 a week for email newsletters. And about 10 a day for spam. Sometimes more.
I get 50-60 a day. About 10 newsletters and the rest are spam, I get personal mail maybe 1-2 times a week.
This is from my main account, I use other e-mail addys too. But I don't check them everyday.
I used to get 3-400 a day when all of the mailing lists I subbed to came straight to me, then some switched to Yahoo and that cut it in half. Then I unsubbed from all the lists and now I get just a few a day from friends and relatives, sometimes none.
