How many authors / users on here are which gender?

I'd always assumed that men mostly watch smut while women mostly read it. As such, I figured that the majority of the users / authors on here were women, with a smaller percentage of them being men.

Recently, though, I saw a post that said the ratio of men vs women on here had the vast majority of users being men.

Is that true? Is there a place with general user or site statistics that can say how things be?

It's not going to change how I post; I'm mostly just curious.

According to http://markallenthornton.com/blog/sexual-demographics/, as of January 2015 there were 62,789 author accounts on Lit. According to profile data:

"Of those authors, 33% were female, 44% were male, 2% were a couple sharing an account, .5% were transsexual (Literotica's term), and the rest did not report their sex".

Disclaimers: that data is ten years old, and profile data isn't always accurate.

But overall, my impression of people in this forum is consistent with that: roughly equal male/female, and I'd guess slightly more male than female overall but not "huge majority" male.

And you have to ask yourself what proportion of those reporting "female" are really male, and what proportion of those reporting "male" are really female.

They both have their reasons.

My impression is the same as Bramblethorn's, based in part on studies like that one cited, which has circulated here a few times, but also based on my own interactions with readers. My impression is that most of the readers who have left comments are male. Some of them obviously are (assuming I believe how they identify or what they say) and others sure seem that way.

My go-to categories probably skew male.

Copy this, and for my story file at least, I reckon my readership is roughly equal male female, with a known allocation of fluid.

This is my opinion only. No data to support it...
Male population of Literotica....
Somewhere between 80% and 100% Regardless of information on their profile.
Here in the AH, I suspect it's closer to 90%...
Regardless of their sexuality, I believe the majority is male...
As I say, just my perception...

I have started genetically testing my characters. Seems a lot of them are wearing jeans they weren't assigned at birth.

Remember to change your Gender Fluid every 6,000 miles or every six months, whichever comes first!
That would be a pretty interesting premise for a SF/F story. A population of genderless drones (at least in the physical sense) who take on the characteristics of one or more genders for a limited time based on the consumption of some kind of substance... actual hormones if one wants to skew toward realism, or something ridiculous like unicorn splooge if not.
