How many are flying into EAA this year?

It's my goal to fly up there within the next 3-5 years. Preferably in my own airplane.

I certainly agree! It’s an amazing event even if you don’t have your own plane.I love how many people from around the world are here for 7-10 days.

We don’t own an airplane (yet) but both the wife and I are fans of aviation…

I will be there this year. Grew up flying and spent over 20 years in Army Medevac. It is ABSOLUTELY a bucket list item if you've never been.

A girlfriend and I are always interested in meeting new friends in the area as well. It would be spectacular to meet fellow like minded Lit people who are also into aviation.

Decided not to go this year, although now that's it's so close I'm beginning to regret it.

I'd planned to make last year my final trip, but--nope.

And this year--I just thought between a LOT of folks going and the remaining COVID adjustments it wouldn't be quite normal yet.

Maybe next year--but pulling a trailer with a generator and A/C, wimp that I've become!

I flew Medevac for a few years....

I will be on the grounds a few nights this week. Would love to meet fellow aviation lit enthusiasts.

EAA is going all out this year to celebrate the return to normalcy. How many are cumming this year?

I had never heard of this before but it looks cool.
Gazer, Good Sir, didn’t know you were an “ airshow fan”👍 Being in Western NY I was blessed with the Geneseao Airshow every summer. About 60 miles south of Rochester. It was put on by the “ Wings of Eagles “/ 1941 Hag, and it’s being going on in one form or another for close to 40 years!!
It’s held on a grass air field, just adds to the atmosphere. They feature WWI replica’s, planes from the 1930’s & a Host of WWII Warbirds. Back it’s it’s heyday ( 1990’s) they got close to a 100 or more aircraft. SNJ’s, Harvards ( from Canada 🇨🇦)P-40’s, P-51’s, B-17’s, B-25’s, Hellcats, Wildcats, TBM’s, Corsair's, Spitfire, Hurricane, British Lancaster heavy bomber, C-47’s. Even an odd German & Japanese ( replica.. Tora,Tora, Tora. )An amazing sight. They also had a least one jet demonstration. You could walk amoung the aircraft, talk to the pilots & crew, even pay a fee & go inside a bigger plane. They also had reenactor’s from all sides of WWII ( even the Russians 🤣)
Obviously the best part was seeing these “ Birds” flying. To hear those Big engines come to life. One year was the Year if the Heavy Bomber. Then to see 6 B17’s, a B-24,& a Lancaster take to the skies… with a fighter escort just an awesome, inspiring sight & sound. Will always remember the sights & sounds & smells.
It ain’t Oshkosh, but for me it was unforgettable 👍👍. Ok, this is long enough. Slainte to all & remember our fallen this Memorial Day 🇺🇸

I would love to see the WWII aircraft. I remember back when I was a teenager going to an airshow at Dulles Airport with my friends. I don't remember much of what was there that day now though. If there was something closer to home with the WWII planes I would definitely attend. I always thought the Corsair was the coolest looking with the gull wings. Growing up, my best friend's dad was a front gunner in either the B-17 or B-24, I forget which now.

There is an airshow at Virginia Beach October 1st & 2nd. They are supposed to feature a number of WWII “ war birds”. The county Parks & Recreation Dept. is running a trip there for the Sunday show… for $20.00. Leaves at 6:30, comes back at 9:30. I’m seriously thinking of going. Lunch is over, back on the road again. Slainte 👍
