I thought I wrote long stories.

A new posting 'Tanks for the Mammaries' by Wholemanz has NINETEEN (19) Lit pages.

That is long. Anyone know a longer one?

fromWholemanz Thanks for the Mammaries:
I was promptly arrested, and charged with her murder.

No corpse, no murder weapon, no motive but I was convicted.

Off topic, but a few years ago, this happened for the first time in recent history in Britain.

A husband was convicted for the murder of his disappeared wife, even though there seemed to be more evidence for his wife running off with another man.

I read in a paper and have the article tuucked away somewhere, as I thought this could be an interesting story to write about (fictionally).

Well done Wholemanz. You've jumped the gun ahead of me. LOL

As for long stories, do you think horney teenage dudes last that long?

It was written for horney teenage ladies.

Bravo!

I always think my stories are long when they're in MSWord, but when they end up in the Lit format, they're only around 3 pages or so. I'm a piker.

For the piker, not Colly:

Today's the fourth of July
another June has gone by
and when they light up our town I just think
what a waste of gunpowder and sky
I'm certain that I am alone
in harbouring thoughts of our home
it's one of my faults that I can't quell my past
I ought to have gotten it gone
Oh, baby, I wonder -
if when you are older -
someday-
you'll wake up
and say, 'My God, I should have told her -
what would it take?
But now here I am and the world's gotten colder
and she's got the river down which I sold her.'
So that's today's memory lane
with all the pathos and pain
another chapter in a book where the chapters are endless
and they're always the same
a verse, then a verse, and refrain
Oh, baby, I wonder -
if when you are older -
someday-
you'll wake up
and say, 'My God, I should have told her -
what would it take?
But now here I am and the world's gotten colder
and she's got the river down which I sold her.'

Can't say I've seen a longer one than that, mine are all short stories, longest is 3 Lit pages, most 2.

I never bothered to finish editing it and posting it here, but last years Nano story wound up at 64 Word pages for the main bulk of it, with a few more pages lurking in a second Word file waiting to be stitched together, probably about 75 pages in all. I don't know what that would run to in Lit pages if it were ever submitted here.

I'd guess 19 Lit pages took a considerable chunk of the authors time to write, proof read, edit, and submit, very dedicated.

The longest single submission story I have ever seen on Lit was TheSandman's Sci-Fi story "Dragon's Breath" which was 37 Lit pages. I say 'was' because the story was accepted by a publisher and has since been deleted. As of Oct 23, the author's bio page reads simply "Goodbye." so my suspicion is that we shall not see the story reposted.

Other than that, I can't name a story I have ever seen longer than a dozen Lit pages.

Chilled Vodka, who did that song? I was trying to think where I'd heard it, and then I remembered--a few years ago my sister was in the habit of making homebrewed compilations of songs from her vast CD collection and sending them to her family for Christmas, and that song was on one of them that she sent to me. She's quit doing it--I suspect because of time constraints--and in the past year or so I haven't had occasion to listen to the tapes as much, because I've been in jobs where I had to/got to interact with people.

Back to topic...

I wonder if anyone can advise me. I just started a series, and it's beginning in Gay Male, but probably the categories are going to change as my protagonist's cirucumstances change; also there's going to be a certain amount of family, non-erotic stuff mixed in there; can I declare a series of stories a novella in mid-stream?
