How long should dishes soak in the sink?

I have to get them done tonight.. but I was thinking they should soak until morning. You know.. to make sure they are good and clean.

There is only a few.. couple of plates... couple of forks.. a bowl and some coffee cups. They aren't real dirty.. but isn't soaking them a good idea or am I just looking for away not to do them tonight?

:D

It's called a dishwasher.

Do them tonight...you'll feel better...of course you realize that I wouldn't do it...I'm worthless that way...

Freaky Deak, you know I love you, but we've discussed this cleaning issue that you have.

Put down teh sponge and step away from the sink. Rest assured that your house is cleaner than any house has the right to be, and nothin is gonna explode if you leave a coffee cup or three in the sink.

I say let em soak till all the water evaporates from the sink....By then they'll be dry and you can just put em away.......:p

Shit. I'm not the cleaning lady I used to be.

I'm ashamed.. seriously. Beds haven't been made for almost 2 weeks. But I have a really good excuse. Kids were here.. and it was impossible to make the beds. Then the kids left and the bedding needed washing.. so I did that.. but I haven't re made the beds. I just closed the door. :D

I can't even find my mop bucket.

and the only reason I have to finish these soon is because mom has an appointment in the morning (10am) with her case worker. God forbid if the house is "perfect".

Someone mentioned a dishwasher.. what do you think I am? ;) Actually we have one.. but it hasn't worked since the early 70's. And I'm to stingy to buy a new one. LOL

Jaymes-You are so right.. maybe I should drain the water from the sink.

Never, ever let dishes soak in the sink. When you come back to do them, the water will be cold and cloudy and grey, with a skin of grease on the top. And don't even think about the chunks of waterlogged food that surely lurk beneath the surface.

Fill inidvidual glasses, bowls and pans with water to prevent dried-on crustiness, but don't just dump them in the sink. It's a tactile nightmare waiting to happen. Even better, rinse your dishes after you use them and stack them until you can do a wash.

(This message was brought to you by the girl who has only got 2 spoons. Can you tell I hate to do the dishes?)

Ideally, they should soak until someone comes around to wash them for you.

I got to thinking

I own two dogs.. why should I wash dishes when they are capable of getting them clean for me?

I wish I would have thought of this a long time ago. I would saved lots of money on dish soap.

Heh...My mother was over one day while I was giving the cat her 1/2 can of fancy feast treat. She saw me take a regular people plate out of the cabinet, spoon the cat food on and stick in on the floor. The look of disgust on her face was priceless.

I said Ma! The dish will get washed in the dishwasher and be as good as new. Is this wrong?

For your original question, I say let them soak, and when you go to wash them later, just drain the sink and use fresh dishwater.

Never change out the dishwater. It threatens it's manliness.

Ack!!!

While I know that my dishwasher will kill any germs left by the dogs mouth, the mental picture of my dog licking his balls and then my plate and then me eating off that plate is just too much for me. For the love of God, scrap it into his bowl!

:)

I had my dog's balls removed when he was young for just this reason.

It's all about the dishes.

Yes, please scrap the dog's balls into his bowl. :)

Well my cat is female, so no balls there. But I know what you're saying. I think that was my mother's problem with it too...lol
