How Long Wait For A PM Response?

Greetings,

One of those freakin' long time reader, first time poster here. I decided to spend some creative energies and actually wrote a bit of a smut story, but when I was reading the rules for posting said story, I had a couple of questions, and so I sent Laurel a PM as was one of the options listed.

That was on Jan. 28th, over a week ago and the PM is still listed as being unread. Hence my question of "How long to wait for a PM response?" I have read a few threads here and there and it seems that there is a wait period between the time that the stories are submitted and when they are posted, is there a similar wait period for PM's to be answered?

Thanks,

PariahSolo

She's likely busy with the Valentine's Day contest right now. Did you try finding the answers to your questions first? What about asking them in the AH? Chances are, they've been asked and answered here before, or someone can answer them at the very least, so using the forums should be your first course of action (rather than add to a very busy Laurel's list). :)

And Then

Ok, I will give it a shot here:

After reading some Xmen pron (yes, sad is me, Xmen pron), I found one story I liked (Bast) and a lot I didn't like. So after exiting out of a story that I didn't like, thinking that infamous line, "I can write a better story then that", I found myself the next day drafting an outline and then started the writing. 7 chapters and 27K words later and I felt I had enough to post online (because of the subject matter is a very open ended story) and that is where I ran into a couple of issues.

That age 18 barrier and one of the characters is a changling, (Wolfsbane, goine from female, to werewolf to full wolf). The 18 age barrier can be easily circumvented, ie not mentioning any ages and stating things like "taking college courses", however, I don't want someone to edit it with some silly line like, "Shelly, WHO OF COURSE IS OVER 18, as she gobbles the cock". The 2nd issue is Wolfsbane and what I could get away with since she is a changling.

I am writing the story for two fold, to show what I think being a student at Xaviers School for Gifted (and horny) youngsters would be like and to make some of the fanboys reading it to go, "WTF" and "That ain't right". Yes, my own little shock story.

I ended the PM asking her flatly if Literotica was a place for said story and if not if she had a better suggestion. (I looked at four other websites and either didn't care much for the sites or they were obviously not a match (like ASSTR).

As to looking around before sending Laurel the PM, yes, I did, but I will be the first to admit my "search-fu" is weak.

Thank you,

PariahSolo

go ahead and submit the story as is, and write a little disclaimer at the top including the comment that everyone in the story is of legal age. just don't make any references to your character being *under* 18 and you should be fine, especially with the disclaimer.

as for the possible beastiality, i've seen a lot of different things done on lit, and some stuff that seems tamer than others sent to the extreme section. i say put whatever you want in the story and submit it. i think that as long as you don't focus on the fact that it's beastiality as a fetish, it should be fine. i mean, if you don't focus a lot on the animal taboo...

i'd say lit should be ok with your story. good luck.

ps -

it might even just be hard for laurel to respond because she won't know specifically what hte possible problems would be in your story. if it gets rejected, bring it to the boards, or pm me, and we can talk about it.

There's no longer an extreme section, AFAIK, and bestiality is against the rules.

You may be fine without focusing on it if the werewolves (or whatever) are human-like in every other way.

Both of these subjects have come up MANY times in the AH and EF, so you may want to ask LadyG to have this thread moved to the AH if you want their opinions/advice (usually excellent and spot-on) before you submit, especially since things are backed up from the contest right now.

No one will edit your story. Trust me, they are much too swamped to do any individual editing. They either accept it or not.

The Age barrier: As long as you don't describe the character in terms typically associated with "underage" or "lolita" stories you shouldn't need to put a disclaimer about age. Although since this is a Fan-fic, if the character is generally recognised as a specific age by fans of the series, you'll need to explicitly set the story in a future where she's explicitly identified as of legal age.

The question of Fan-fics about characters/celebrities has come up several times with regard to stories about Hilary Duff and the Olsen Twins when they were at the height of their popularity -- the answer to those cases was that since the popular image of those characters/celebrities is of "underage" Lit wouldn't accept stories about them that didn't explicitly establish a future, "when they become legal," setting for the story.

Changling/Bestiality: This question is fairly common in the non-human and erotic horror category. The general rule is that changling characters can do anything EXCEPT have sex in their non-human form; any sex involving a shapechanger and a non-shapechanger must be in human form. (two shapechangers must be in the same form when they engage in sex.)

It sound to me that your story is probaby better suited to EWPub.org or StoriesOnline.net than to LIterotica; the problem of adjusting an established comic book character's age to suit Lit's age restriction pretty much destroys the attraction to your target audience of X-men fans.

Hi, Pariah. I hope that's just your handle, not a description. First, nobody will edit your story unless you ask them to, and then it would be another author. Management has better things to do than to change your stories. They won't even correct typos.

As for the age thing, there should be no problem. You might make some blanket comment, such as mentioning that nobody would be admitted to Xavier's school before their 18th birthday because they wanted to avoid trouble with the authorities. If Wolfbane is a changeling, that is, a human who changes into a wolf, that would make her a mythical being, and okay. If she were a dog or a full time wolf, that would be a no no. Bestiality is against the rules, but only if it is a real animal. Werewolves, vampires, unicorns and other mythical beasties are okay.

Hi, Chicklet. It's nice to see your name and AV on this forum again. :)

Hey, Weird one. I'm not so sure about that last part. I wrote a story a while ago, "Love with a Werewolf" about a man and a woman who were married, and he was a werewolf. On a night with a full moon, they waited until he changed into a wolf, and had some great sex, because of his long tongue, and youth and stamina and other things I am not going to go into here. I felt I should keep emphasizing his essentially humanness, because it would otherwise have been a bestiality story.

And Then

Wierd Harold and everyone else,

Honestly, after I started writing the story, I had a feeling that it really wouldn't be that compatible with Literotica, which is a shame, because of all of the free online story sites, I find Literotica to be the best. My question now, with the 1st seven chapters done, should I even bother sending it to Literotica for posting at all (after I edit it to comply with the age 18 barrier, I haven't even gotten to Wolfsbane yet, figure that is in three chapters or so)?

The story is itself is on the slow side, with only 3 sections actually having sex in them. I ask this because I have seen other multipart stories that had missing sections found on other websites. Is that policy acceptable or would readers rather not have to bother?

Box, my handle is two part, a few years ago, a couple of females did make me feel like a pariah, so I started referring to myself online as such. The Solo is because even though I am remarried these days, sex seems to be just by myself...(Hen, I found a thread that was too close to home in the Blank Manual, but the last post was almost 3 years ago, not sure if I want to resurrect that bad boy).

Thanks again,

PariahSolo

You said PM?

another couple of places to think about, that will welcome your genre and be less restrictive about the content;
adultfanfiction.net
and
ficwad.com

There are several others, but I'm not super-in with the fandom crowds, so I'd have to ask around. Google might give you some leads, though- "NC-17 fanfic Xmen" or something like that. Iin fact, I just came up with this;
http://www.mutualadmiration.net/oddsandends.html
Do a little reading before you submit- If you like anything you read, you might find some kindred readers yourself. :)
