how long to approve stories?

Hello.
I also submitted weeks ago. Perhaps they will never be posted.
I did find an alternate site, I wrote a bit for there.
What I do after 3 weeks is cut and paste, then delete, and repost to the other site, since this one has obviously chosen not to use it.
I have 3 now posted to the other site, they welcome my poor works.
This site is more popular, so they get to pick and choose, I think.
Way it is, if the work isn't good enough to suit, then I guess it never posts......

Pending status, regardless of time, has nothing to do with being a first timer or a newbie, as you put it. The standard time for posting stories is said to be about a week, but the longer I'm here, the longer it seems to take. The site seems to be growing by leaps and bounds and this affects the time it takes for your story to get pushed through. I think lately most people have been waiting a minimum of 2 weeks. It's difficult to be patient when you're waiting for your first submission to be accepted, but it will happen.
One thing to remember is not to open your story daily. Each time you check on your story or attempt to edit, it is dropped to the bottom of the qeue. Good luck with the patience...I know it's nerve wracking. I wish I had better advice than to just ignore it for a few days, but that's what works for me. I fret about it for the first few days and then leave it alone for a few and then all of a sudden I realize it's posted. Just one of those nice little gray areas in life.

This isn't how it works at all, Lee. Pending status has nothing at all to do with a story's merit and everything to do with the influx of new stories and the speed at which they can be read for acceptability. Please don't delete anything on the basis of its worthiness at Lit. They're just behind. I've seen several veterans waiting around the three week mark to have submissions accepted lately and I can assure you it has nothing to do with the quality of their work.

Thank you. I did not know that, I simply assumed some of my work was not good enough.
When I post to other sites I see them up by the next day usually.
I only switched 3 so far though. I was about to switch the two I have pending, thank you.
I will be more patient, there are a lot of very good writers here.
