how long does it usually take for a story to get approved?

OMG... The QUESTION!!! This person actually asked the question. How many times has it been asked on Lit? Who knows. But every new writer has to ask. Then we research and ponder and finally don't answer except with some missive and usually incorrect answer designed to confuse and frustate. Oh God, how I have missed the QUESTION. And it's Sunday too. This must be a present from God to brighten my day and say I'm not such a bad person after all even though the stories I write are terrible and shocking to the morals of 90% of the world.

The normal wait is 3-5 days of late, from what I've observed.
During a contest ( the summer one is going on right now ) the wait can stretch out a day or two.
First time authors typically see an increase of a day or two as well.
Give it a week, at least, before you start to wonder. A week and a half before you start to worry.
( also note that audio and illustrated submissions can also take even longer to post. I've heard that audio submission are only posted on certain days )

I think her name was Mathgirl or something like that. Her AV was a baby with a huge ass.
ETA: Yes, that was her name, and we used to wait for her to answer people who asked the question.
