How long does it take?

Just a question... I submitted a story over two weeksago and have yet to see it posted. I've e-mailed Literotica but they haven't answered. I don't think I violated any guidelines. How long does it take to see your stories posted? Thanks.

Two weeks is a little unusual, even for a first-timer, and with a contest going on. Does it still say "Pending" at the far right of the story on your author-side submissions page?

The standard is 3-7 days, though 5-7 is more realistic. Themed contests will sometimes slow down submissions, and first submissions often take a little longer than subsequent ones.

Thanks dark. I'm a newbie here so I don't know where to look for the authors page yet. I'm not interested in the contest either. Just wanted to tell a story.

Just log in with your username/password on that page, and you can see all the vital stats for your story.

The far right column should have one of three things: Pending, Rejected, Accepted. There should be a reason listed ( I think you have to click the "Rejected link" ) if the story was rejected.

It may not be a really clear reason, but it will be a reason. You may have to pass it on to another set of eyes or two, noting the reason for the rejection, to see if anyone else can give you any ideas if you just don't see it. Sometimes, the simplest thing like commas out of place can trigger a rejection, and you may not catch on to it.

Oh, and submitting via uploading Word documents will take longer, as well. The quickest way to get your stories posted is to upload plain .txt files or paste the text directly into the "story text" section of the form, using HTML tags for any formatting such as italic, bold, etc.

A combination of the contest slowing things down, a first story, and submitting via a word document could make two weeks less unusual.

If the story happens to be illustrated or has audio components, that will slow things down even more. Those are usually only posted on certain days, because they require a lot of extra hands-on work by the moderators.

Also - have you tried editing it whilst it's been pending, cos that puts it back to the beginning of the queue each time

Lit time seems to bear very little resemblance to real world time. That "72 hours" stretches out to at least a week, possibly more.

A welcome  for the little newbie from the good little witch.

Normally 36 inches, but in a leap year it could be 39 inches- close to a meter.

Which is about the length of an acoustic guitar.
