How long does it take

This is a popular question!

First - welcome to the Author's Hangout! Nice to meet you.

How long? Sometimes up to a week.

We are finishing up a Valentine's Day Contest, so things could be a little crazy about now but probably 3-5 days?

Good luck!

My stories are taking SO long! I've had 3 pending - 2 are re-submissions - over a week. Shouldn't resubmissions be quicker??

Also - I have a question on re-submitting. How do you resubmit once you make the suggested changes? I've found I need to change the title (slightly) and submit it anew; I haven't figured out how to use the suggested method in the Literotica instructions! Help!

When a contest is in progress, submissions and re-submissions take longer than usual. The official answer to the question 'How long before a submission is posted?' is longer than whatever time you think is reasonable plus a day, depending on the price of cheese delivered to Chicago and the weather pattern over Tierra del Fuego and how fast the guinea pigs can turn their wheel.

The instructions from the FAQ are:

I've re-edited my story and want to replace the posted version with my new edited one. How do I do this?

No problem! Simply submit the new version as you submitted the old one, only adding the word "EDITED" to the title (ex. "My Sexy Firefighter Ch. 03 - EDITED") so that we know to replace the old text with the new text. We will then replace the original text with the new text. Your story will retain its previous voting score and views.

Use exactly the same title including upper and lower case and spaces followed by upper case EDITED. It can help if you put something like 'Please replace the original story with this revised one' in the Notes box when you submit.

I'm so glad you answered, Og. I wanted to, but it's only 6:30 here, I'm on my first cup of coffee, and I've had to read through this sentence three times to be sure it's coherent. ;)

Have a hug or two with the next cup of coffee.

Thanks! i have just made coffee...i can't even think about erotica yet.

I was confused about somehow resubmitting in the 'same place' which I wasn't able to do...and not trusting they'd remove the "EDITED." Duh. Now, do resubmissions go faster? And how come I have like 30 views but no decision? And how come my rejected stories have a million views?

So many quesitons, apologies for hijacking the thread this early on a Saturday morning!

Resubmissions take as long as submissions - or longer.

30 views and no decision? The system counts every time you look to see if it has been posted. If you edit the submission when you view, which I don't think you can do now, but we used to be able to, it goes to the back of the queue again.

Rejected and viewed - I don't know.

If something has been rejected, you either need to fix it (within that particular submission) and hit submit or delete it.

You mean, when I go to stella_omega/submissions_view.php and look at my views and scores, the DB adds another hit to all of my stories?????

Been there too. It can take FOREVER! It's one of those few times that patience really IS a virtue, since there is nothing else that you can do about but WAIT! As I'm not a patient person by nature, it can drive me nuts at times. :D

as a side note, my dear verbal friend- that Monty Python quote in your siggy could be boiled down to the single "watery tart" sentence :rose:

*snicker*

Stella said - "tart".

I don't think so Stell. It's when you have a story pending and you open that submission. When you close that box it looks at it as a new submission and sends it to the back. Like being sent to your room if you try peeking under the Christmas wrapping.

Well, I like to ramble, so my signature reflects it. :D Point taken, however. Thanks. :rose:

Can you do that? 'Cause I could when I first started posting here, but it seems that option is no longer available. I wish it were, I'd rather go back to the end of the qeue then see something get published wrong and have to wait for the edit to go through- meanwhile, I'm getting negative feedback for whatever fuckup I committed :(

I don't know. I never did that. I can't edit something that's already there. (As reflected in the scores for my V.day entry)

But between you and me there aren't many readers that know how to read properly.

I hate editing. It means I haven't done it right in the first place. Proofing and tweaking fine. Editing, nu-hu.

Sorry, the editor in me just takes over unexpectedly sometimes! :rose:
