How long does it take for my story to be vetted before it gets published?

Good evening, everyone. I am Seun Thomas, and I am new on this platform as a writer. I tried to publish my first work here but I received a message about the work being vetted before it will be approved for publishing.
Please, I would like to know how long this process takes. Is there anything else I am supposed to do?

This question is usually asked here about twice a week. Only one person, Laurel the site owner, scans and vets all submissions. New authors must wait longer than established writers for her approval. In contest periods, contest entries have priority, so all other submissions take longer. If 8-10 days have gone by, ask again.

I often say: Patience is a LIT author's greatest virtue. Nothing happens fast here.

Maybe this should be a sticky.

No, not that sort of sticky...

A sticky at the top of the forum.

I posted here for 10 years under a different user name. I've seen stories go live in less than 24 hours, I've seen it take two weeks for one to post. It all depends on how many are ahead of you, how much time Laurel can dedicate, and other factors.

With one lady reviewing each story on here, it is not a fast process.

I'm an established writer who's never had a story rejected, and my last story, published two days ago, took nearly 7 days to get published. In the past the average period has been shorter at times. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just be patient. If it's getting close to 10 days you might want to send a note to Laurel making an inquiry.
