How is it that it takes children to show some of us adults how to get into a package that's childproof? That goes for lighters too damnit!

A child showed me what to do to disable the childproof part of a cigarette lighter. A child had to remind me that I have to press a tab down to get the medicine cap off.

Childproof this, childproof that. More like it's proof that only children can get into them. bah! :(

I have a bottle of aspirin that I swear you have to be Houdini to get open. I use one of those rubber things that you usually use to open pickle jars, etc. the first time. That's the only way I can get a grip on the top to pop it open.

ah well see, I don't have one of those rubber things, because I don't eat pickles.

"Childproof" is the designation given to any mechanical contrivance that any reasonably intelligent human over the age of 18 cannot operate, but any 4 year old can.

It is misleading. Should be called "child resistent."

Studies have shown it takes the average 3 year old, three minutes to open a child-proof medicine bottle.

Good point. I recently did a job at a bank. The vault must have weighed 40 tons and had more locks and fail-safes than you can imagine. The label on the vault said "Burlar Resistant". No shit.

Technology is not at all the same as mechanical work, thank you very much. I've been setting my VCR since the first one I got in 1986. Were you even born then? :D
