I could gives a rat's ass, but I'm curious. How many people pay attention to post totals? Do you use them for anything beyond the av/title business? Do you care at all?

i honestly dont look at my post total or others ... on occasion it'll catch my eye but i usually feel embarrassed that its so high so i try and not look at all :)

I kept my eye open for 100, cuz I like the purdy pictures. For 1,000 someone had to actually tell me I'd passed it because I simply didn't notice.

It's nice for people who care, though. I don't begrudge them happiness in their post totals.

I'm the first other vote.....because I needed to pick three of the options. I'm happy for my friends or others that care about the milestones. And I only really care about the 100 and 1000 marks for myself...otherwise I could give a rats ass.

i remember when i hit 100 posts and 1000 i did care well ... i made a thread saying i'd reached a 100 and i thanked everyone for welcoming me into the lit-world ... you know one of "those" threads the annoying ones newbies make :)

I only care about them in so much as they show me how much someone has participated on Lit. - if someone only has two posts and is flaming someone, then that leads me to believe they may be a troll.

<<<--- Like my new Av? My title still fits! :D

<<<---- Hey look! My post # is 50/50! Kewl! I may just leave it there and make no more posts anywhere but here! :D

i like that av.
Yeah I do too - I saw it on an ad for DTV today where they play back the scene from the movie, then the woman says "how many times have you seen Animal House - 200 times?" and go on to try to sell you the pay per view specials. They the woman says" oh yeah, where was I?" and starts to caress herself again. They end with John smiling at the camera.

I loved that skit in Animal House, it was classic Belushi.

It's obvious who cares about the totals by some of the worthless post they make. I have been around for about 10 months or so and enjoy you people. But some of you really like to rack up the score.

Post counts after 1000 are about as exciting as birthdays after you are old enough to drink... no big deal, the excitement is over.

1000 meant very little to me. So much so..I still can't think of a custom title for myself. I guess if the count mattered, I'd post more. *shrugs*

How about, "Queen of Spray Cheese"? ;)

They aren't, they were spoiled.

Way back when they meant something it was special, now... any commoner that can hit the return key has the full thousand within the month

I look at my post count and go
I think I post way too often.
So my post count means almost nothing to me.

LOL!

I like having a title and an av. And at the rate I post, it took me a hell of a long time to get to 1000, even if I've been here just shy of forever.

I was an eensy bit pissed when I hit 1000 and apparently the powers-that-be had limited the amount of character one could have in one's title. I'm one character shy of the title I really really wanted.

Oh, well.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: POST COUNTS DO MATTER!!

They show how much wisdom you have, how much experience you've obtained, how cool you are, how little of a r/l you have, how popular you are, YOUR VALUE AS A HUMAN BEING!!!

Really.

I don't pay attention to post totals, I have no idea what mine even is. I was secretly excited when I hit 100 and 1,000 because of the av and title but I didn't feel the need to start a thread and brag. I hate when people do that about the dumbest little numbers, like we all haven't hit 1,000 before and should be particularly proud and excited for (whomever). It seems kind of arrogant for some reason.

Anyway, I voted I don't give a rat's ass.

Any commoner? lol - Cheffie, love, have you become royal on us?

Took me months to make 1000, and I'm still rolling along at that pace.

There was no royal we attached was there?

And it took me a year to make a thousand too, but something bad happened after then, I think Laurel actually changed mine to a word count.

I noticed back when I first hit 1000. Mainly because I was around when having over 50 posts was amazing, partly because it was still a fairly high achievement to post that high - and also because when I hit 1000, Laurel had to put our titles in herself so I wanted one ready.

After I hit 1000, I stopped paying much attention unless I noticed weird number combos, heh. I probably won't notice if/when I top over 10,000.

Now, hitting 1000 takes days, not years so it's not amazing and great anymore. Hell, you don't even have to post anything meaningful anymore to get a response.
