All I can think of is they're good for a laugh once in a while.

I have three times the rights I used to...

I also no longer have to fear getting wealthy. I'm a lot safer too with Naps watching me.

;) ;)

I'm going to vote for Obama!

"Why are you here?"

"To get some money."

"What kind of money?"

"Obama money."

"Where's it coming from?

"Obama."

"And where did Obama get it?"

"I don't know... his stash, I don't know. I don't know where he got it from, but he's givin' it t'us to help us. We love him. That's why we voted for him... Obama! Obama!"

Frankly, I'm relieved that transexuals can use the ladies bathroom in out state....THAT was a Bill worth passing!

Pre or post op???

Pre-ops can still piss in the alley.

I. P. Standing told me so.

Post op....not sure....

What is funny, is, seems anyone can use the men's room.....do you really think anyone would notice a post-op transexual in the men's room? I mean, other than George Michael?

If I wasn't sure about the men's room, I'd just go outside anyway.

Liberalism?

Since most of you have experienced precious little of it, I'd be surprised if it had improved or worsened your life much at all.

I dunno about that, if there were no liberals, how would miles live on food stamps?

Liberalism has improved my life by allowing me to get an education. My family barely lived paycheck-to-paycheck and couldn't afford to pay a dime for my college. A liberal policy called the Federal Student Loan Program allowed me to get a terrific education.

Liberalism has enabled me to have a home with clean water and breathable air.

Liberalism has improved my life by assuring me that when I'm old I will have health care. Even though I plan to have a nice retirement savings it would all be in doubt if I was unfortunate enough to have to pay for a chronic medical condition for an extended period of time after retirement.

(These are also ways that Miles' and AJ's lives have been greatly improved by liberalism)

Ok, bare minimum milquetoast patchwork liberalism. You gots it.

I gots universal health care with public providers, tuition free higher education and re-schooling, paid maternity and paternity leave, heavily subsidized daycare, a national and local public transportation grid that can take me anywhere comfortably, six week vacations, progressive taxation like a mofo, strict, no nonsense financial and enviromental regulation and laws against horse-trading in parlament.

Not sure that that last one is liberalism, but I like it anyway.

On the other hand, we have no estate tax, no minimum wage, a privatized pension system and a fully developed and operational charter school system.

So it's a little schitzo over here.

I totally agree with you. Being liberal mans you're much more tolerant too, and that's something we all need a lot more of.

Make hugs, not misery :) :rose:

Weekends off, clean air, water and food that won't poison me. A national health service that's free at the point of use and won't bar me for pre-existing conditions. Health and safety laws at work that prevent employers exploiting me and my colleagues with unsafe practises. A free education up to degree level. The knowledge that my kids and their contemporaries won't have to climb up chimneys or work in mills at the age of ten. The ability to walk into a bookshop or dvd rental place and get material that would be frowned on by religious groups. Libraries, schools, hospitals, parks, national trails, reservoirs, roads and a national rail network.

I could go on but I want tea.

LMAO thanks for the hilarity!

Liberalism doesn't mean tolerance of people who attack liberals. Or that we tolerate conservative anti-virtues such as intolerance, the suppression of minority rights, or the criminalization of birth control.

An older policy call the land-grant college allowed my Dad to get an education, if he did ROTC. (In the early 1950s all male students at Florida land-grant colleges like UF had to do ROTC, that was how they interpreted the land-grant law at the time.) Which also got him a long career as an Air Force officer. Then he retired from that honorable profession and took a *blech* taxpayer-leeching government job, as a schoolteacher.

Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis)[1] is the belief in the importance of liberty and equal rights.[2] Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally liberals support ideas such as constitutionalism, liberal democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, capitalism, and freedom of religion.

I'm thankful.

When I go to lunch with one of my black friends, we can sit at the same table. It seems like such a small thing, these days.
