I am a writer of pron... especially extreme porn... I am currently writing a potential new movie series on the subject of "BDSM" of the extreme side... How far is too far concerning this subject? My current inspiration is writings of De Sade, and other simlar writers and material of this subject. Is that too extreme or no holds barred? Thoughts and opinions please...

Chilli dogs, chilli dogs are just going too far. Hmmmm... Oh and it's politically incorrect to write about the use of roller skates in the scene

EDIT: I couldn't put up a post like that and leave the question unanswered..... or rather that's what Mistress told told me I couldn't do.... :( Um.... it's a story, write about whatever it is that does it for you, I mean.... assuming you aren't acting said story out on a non consenting individual then hell you can write about snuff and rape (which Sade frequently did). Now, it may not be to everyone's taste but as of such, no matter how grotesque a literary piece I've seen... there always seems to be something worse on television.

What's too far depends on your reader.

Most people in the BDSM community use guidelines like SSC: safe, sane, and consensual. This precludes many things that would be considered extreme. But there are always a few people out there who ignore one or more of those rules. Whether it's BDSM anymore at that point is debatable. Take that case in Europe where some guy consented to being cut up and eaten. I don't think of that as BDSM, I think of it as two totally sick fucks who found each other online and followed through on their personal insanities. Most people would undoubtedly consider that to be the opposite of erotic. But if you're writing for people who qualify for involuntary institutionalization, you never know...

So I guess there's my answer. Know your audience, and you'll know what to write about.

It definitely depends on who is in your audience. Personally, I have seen stories about castration, snuff, sex with animals, etc. Honestly, in my opinion, that is going too far. Of course, I am sure there are some people out there that can't get enough of it.

I think there is a point when you can move past the 'pain is pleasure' principle and enter the realm of outright torture. If you want to have a large audience, I would keep things more into the mainstream.

i would have to agree; it depends on your audience. But, if you want to reach a greater number of people, it seems to make sense to follow the rule of SSC (safe, sane, consensual) simply because what lies beyond that appeals to a far smaller audience.

Keep your audience in mind for things as grammar and vocabulary as well as if you are trying to sell the story to a particular audience. However, after that write what you like. It will make a much better story if you like the scene. Push your limits and the story will follow.

It's all about marketing. Who is your target audience? THAT'S who you should be asking, not those of us who frequent a bdsm forum. Well unless we ARE your target audience. Then you should read the threads and get a better feel for what we think.

Another route you could take is to take a look at erotica sites like Lit and bdsm porn sites and then find where their content is ranked by popularity. Most sites will have a top list, though you may have to be a little careful you are looking at actually views or votes and not editorial top selections. You could assume, I'd think, that anything in a similar vein to the most popular content will also be popular.

Probably not the sexiest way to figure out what to write about but probably what makes the most sense.

One person's "no way" is another person's "absolutely!!".

i was discussing with my "inner sanctum" (the group of friends who are aware of my involvement in BDSM, the ones i knew wouldn't go "OMG YOU FREAK!!" and run away when i told them) the sorts of things we do and what i wouldn't do after showing them one of the checklists Sir had me fill out, and they all giggled when i stated:

i'm up for trying anything as long as it doesn't involve pee, poo, animals, children or dead people.

But then some people enjoy the involvement of pee, poo or animals.

Children and dead people, that's just messed up. Anyone into those needs their head looking at imo.

Personally, I'd say the huge red typeface is too far, although I've never met a writer of pron before so what do I know?

Rather mean of her, wasn't it Hom?

*hugs* for your sore throat btw, I share your pain right now lol.

*grumbles* Stupid cough

Thank you both for your well wishes. Hope you feel better soon, Harmony.

The Bridge at Remagen was A Bridge Too Far, and It's A Long Way To Tipperary, too. At one point in my life, 1200 miles was not too far for BDSM. For me, now, anyone living more than roughly 4 hours of driving time is too far. Anything under that though is negotiable. :D

LOL! :D. You kill me.

I must be bored, because I'm actually going to answer this...
