So I bit the bullet and set up a blog a couple of months back for my writing. I get this question a little while ago:

What do you think about teenagers that enjoy reading your story?

yeah okay. How the hell do I answer that? Underage sex and porn is a hotbed. I am certainly not going to say oh yeah i love it when kids whose parents should know what the hell they are looking at are reading my incest stories.

The paranoid in me wonders if this is some kind of set up from a lit troll.

I don't want to look rude and delete it but don't want to put my foot in my mouth either. I save that for the threads here!

drinking under 21?

Sorry to suggest the coward's way out, but I'd delete and not reply. I smell a sewerfull of rats here, and the word "set-up" comes immediately to mind.

It depends, if the teenager in question is above the age of 18 and meets the requirements of literotica, I'm glad that they are able to read the stories and I hope they enjoy them. If the person in question is being dishonest, is below the age requirement, then I'm concerned. I can't stop underage kids from drinking but I can say that it bothers me, it is against the law, and their actions are their own responsibilities. If you are under 18, not making straight A's in school, then stop reading my stories and go do your homework.

That's what I'd say.

Where did you get drinking? Well no matter I agree if they are 18/19 no biggie but if they are under first off where are the folks? I mean curiosity about sex is natural we all looked at Dad's Playboys when we were kids but tell you what I would be disturbed if some 14 year old was looking at my stuff.

Okay so i am not the only paranoid one here. This is what I think I may do. This tops the question of are my mother son stories based on real life experience.

You have no control over who reads your stories. Teenagers have always had an abiding interest in sex and now with the Internet they can see and read about it all they want. It's the parents job to monitor what their children are doing or not doing, not you or anyone else. You don't condone it of course, but I presume you abhor censorship as well.

I think it's somebody rattling your cage...nothing more. ;)

I do abhor censorship in adults who are old enough to discern what is proper and what is not. i don;t mind it in the sense of movie ratings and adult material. Kids shouldn't be reading this stuff but there really is nothing to stop them. Think I am going to just say "Sure i enjoy knowing 18/19 year old teenagers like my stories.

For the record my daughter is 18 and i won;t let her near my writing (not that she would want to after all Dad+ sex equals  Too her

Heh! Mom and Dad 'doing it'...Ewwww...gross! Not long ago some grown-up dude caught his father, who was in a nursing home, 'doing it' with a lady in the home. He was so grossed out he took his father to another facility. The poor lady pined for him until Alzheimer's took her. It was sad. :(

I'd say you have two choices here; First and easiest, delete it. it IS a leading question.

If you feel brave, you can reply to it, saying that you emphatically do not approve of teens reading your stories, and reiterate that you write fantasies for adults only. That presumably, adults know the difference between fantasy and reality. That what you write should never ever be taken at face value, be construed as a recommendation of a lifestyle, or seriously in any way except as wank material for adults.

Thanks Stella. I decided to reply and state pretty much what you said that this is adult material and is not meant to be read by minors and also that it is fantasy and not real life situations.

Definitely sounds like a set up. I like Stella's reply because it hit on two big things: the ADULTS ONLY and the FANTASY aspect. Glad you replied in kind!

I love the Dad+Sex= part haha If she ever did come across it and questioned you, how would you handle that? NO I'm not a troll, but as a parent, I wonder how others' would react. Mine is too little to worry about that scenario right this moment.

Mine are young adults now, They know that I write adult material and that it's kinda perverse and they can go find their own perverse material thank you very much.

Take positive action

Speculating to who your admirers are is foolish.

You need to act upon the information that you have received. If the email / message states "teenager" than respond and remind them that your blog is meant for adults and it clearly stipulates the age of consent requirements.

If you choose to ignore, than you may find yourself in a very difficult position as your inaction may be construed as encouragement.

Have you considered contacting the help desk and make them aware of these messages? The management may have suggestions to filter out under-age traffic. Further, you can document that these message were not solicited

Above all, you need to protect your self-expression freedoms and make certain that these aren't taken from you

Good luck

Well my daughters are 21/18 so not little ones. They do know I write erotica and even know that it is incest themed but of course have no desire to read it and I am sure keep it from their friends which I urge them to because the 18 year old still lives here and has her friends over and some people get funny ideas about things.

My series contains a lot of story aspects and I have let them read non erotic parts but nothing else.

Funny story, my daughters are both sarcastic ball busters (hmm wonder how) Now my pen name is Laura Lovecraft on Smashwords and my younger daughter has this routine she says should be my pick up line if I'm ever single again;

Hi, my name is Mike but you can call me Laura, I wrote pornography! Would you like to be my inspiration for my next story? Okay good! So now you pretend your my sister and ....

What comes around goes around right?

Always my favorite comment about paranoia. "Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you."

I pretty much like surelywilder's comment.

Mike

OhMy! LMFAO, that's hilarious!!! And yes, sounds like you got your due with that one. Seems like you have open communication with them, which probably helps curb the curiosity knowing the truth of what you write.

1. Did you blog have the appropriate adult content warning?
2. If it does, then answer it honestly...

"It is not my responsibility monitor your child's reading habits. I don't condone anyone under the age of 18 reading my erotic fiction and if their parents can't control what their children read it is no fault of mine. My blog has the appropriate adult content warning."

3. forget about it.

"I have no control over who reads my material, so I do not have a view."

LOVEBOAT

Word to the wise.

Its impossible to hide smut from teens, and they always show their friends. Then word gets back to the school and they call the police.

Enjoy.

JBJ,
nothing in my writing contains underage sex or bestiality. Freedom of speech covers the rest. Although the porn combined with the occult library sword collection and a dozen guns (all legal BTW) may peak their interest.

I do agree however that most teenagers watch porn but reading smut not really after all this is the new generation who reads next to nothing that is not in text form.

If it is more than OMG LOL BFF BRB or LMFAO they won't touch it.

As for my kids they won;t read it because they I wrote it which does make a difference.

It depends where they are.

The definition of adult, and age of consent, varies by country.

In the UK, people can marry, with parental consent, at age 16 yet are in theory not allowed to access Literotica by Lit's rules.

Which is the nonsense?

Zeb Carter got it right. You say you do not condone anyone under age being exposed to sexually explicit content and that their parents should be monitoring their internet usage.

Just as porn rules are not age of consent rules, porn rules are not marriage rules.

In almost every US state, a sixteen-year-old can marry with parental consent. It's younger in some states, too, and can vary by sex. Some states allow marriage much younger than sixteen if both parental and judicial consent are present. I grew up in one such state, and when we were in middle school we could actually joke about marrying each other at our ages.
