How does a thread die?

Ok, I know a thread dies when no one post messages, but exactly what happens to it? Is it just lost or are the posts stored somewhere? Can you get to a dead thread say, after a few months or something?

Merci!

I know you can go back at least a year, because that's the longest time frame on the options pull down menu. After that, I don't know.

Wait, I stand corrected

There's a Show All Threads option too, so I guess even the first post is still around somewhere.

You can go back to the very first thread on here. Try going to the last page.

What happens to a thread deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

yea they just keep going into the back pages, which is kinda crazy. There are moderators and Laurel posts and everything. Deleting and getting rid of a lot of the clutter could really save on bandwhidth and space. Yet I dont think ANYTHING gets deleted. just edited on occasions when its offensive. hehe.

Just running back-up for Kerrie... keeping the thread alive (and padding my post totals).

You know Dill, I rarely look at the # of posts someone has, I doubt anyone else pays much attention either

Kerrie cannot kill a thread...

After she posts there are too many of us adding:

LMAO!!

That was incredible!!

And

Damn, babe, you rock!!

In various forms onto the end of it.

Neither do I jcgirl - but see Kerrie's post on my "I am NOT a smartass" thread and you'll understand my comment.

Damn. Nobody commented on my Langston Hughes parody. Just damn.

Careful Kerrie

That might have been the last post.

YOU ROCK!!!

Damn, Pyper - I missed that... to late at night to be literate, I think! *lol*

Pyper, I'm sorry! I thought it was great, but couldn't think of Langston Hughes' name to save me. I couldn't decide if it was James Baldwin or Maya Angelou or Jewel.

Jewel?! LOL!

Hey, she's got a good sense of humor, I bet she cracks herself up too.

The voices in her own head need entertainment as much as the BB

Self-pleasure - self-amuse... why not?

Hell - I sit here posting sometimes and laughing my ass off only to find out that less than a handful of people found it funny (or, to be more blunt... got it).

Ahhhhhh.

Explains alot.....no really.....you are funny....and not looking..

Dillinger...

I think a "handful" is a bit optimistic...

sometimes he's funny, jc...you just have to be there when it happens.

Thanks jcgirl.

For example I just posted what I find to be a hilarious thread called "Reality is the ultimate Roschach"

The concept itself is actually quite serious. What is hilarious is the responses it will get. (if it gets any)
