How do you tell breast sizes

I am lost as far as breast boobs tits etc are concerned

some authors have their hero casually glance across the room and immediately identify a 36dd or a c cup

My experience with women`s bras was to try to get them off, not read what size.
serioudly though what about a run down on breast measurement and sizes.
a few facts will help us non bra readers or short sighted ones.

JJ's take

A = small bumps but very expressive nipples

B= about a handful give or take, typically accompanied by expressive nipples, nice combination

C= on the larger size, hard to hide in a sweatshirt

D getting big here, typically hard not to notice, nice slope to anything worn.

DD= Pretty serious mammaries... Don't stand too close when in motion...

DDD = Very large! Could really hurt if properly provoked, likelyhood of expressive nipples decreases significantly

E huge

F and larger (I myself have NO experience with this category) you will tpyically notice the woman has a slouch to her back (You would too if you had to carry all that weight around).

Just a males perspective... from personal observation.

okay i'm wading in on this one.

hiya neighbour, welcome to Litland. :)

my opinion, for what it's worth, is that you have no need whatsoever to know or write about the exact size of a woman's bra.

you haven't needed to know exact measurements in your day to day life, right? why bother with filling a story with measurements?

personally, nothing grates on my eyeballs more than to read some woman with 38DD breasts is bounding across the room.

show me what size she is, don't tell me.

Most smut authors have no bloody clue how a bra is measured to fit.

The number refers to the circumference of the chest just beneath the breasts. It does not include the breasts; it's just the ribcage.

The letters refer to the size of the breasts themselves.

You can guess within a cupsize, I would say, but I don't think it's possible to tell. Most of these statistics writers seem to think that a reader needs to know exact size to get off. Dorky.

As a woman with a 38DD chest, I don't bound anywhere if I can avoid it. Too painful.

Well, I guess that's the only advantage I have. I can just bound and bound without any problem

I tend to slink rather than bound, but only because I like slinking.

Also, sometimes I glide. It really depends on the background music.

Wanna dance?

Um, I don't bound either.

Ouch.

Did you mean horizontally or vertic... Oops. I'm always misinterpreting things. :p

If we all lived on the moon, KillerMuffin could bound around naked all she wanted, except that she couldn't, because the lack of an atmosphere would cause her to explode, and not in a good way. Yuck. Never mind.

Identifying breast sizes

I think unless the charater you describe worked in a lingerie shop for about 10 years then I doubt they could tell.

I personally don't like the use of exact sizes in a story, not for descibing anything, from peoples heights, weights, breast size, cock size, etc.

Try to let your readers imagination fill in the gaps just give them some guidelines. ie.

Your leading lady is short and petite whereas your leading man is a slight over six foot and well built, who towers above her.

Use the same philosophy on the breast size issue. For example:

He cupped her whole breast in the palm of his hand: or

He ran his hand over her breast feeling it swell beneath his touch, his hand unable to contain it.

Just a few suggestions, like mentioned above it is better to show than to tell. If you struggle to picture the size of the breasts from the size ie. how big does a D look then your reader will have the same problem.

JJ-

I must take objection to your characterizations. Poor posture has more to do with the quality of the bra and discipline than the breast size.

And.. my nipples are quite perky, thank you. In fact, I am rather self-concious of my high beams. They are basically permanent after nursing four babies.

MJ-

KM is correct about the numbers and letters.

Here is the rule: measure around the fullest part of the breasts (in inches) and then the ribcage below the breasts. The second number is the number part. Subtract the second number from the first. This determines the cup size. 1=A, 2=B, 3=C, .... and so on. The double D's and triple D's make up for the lack of an 'E' cup.

SO.... if the measurements were 43 and 35 the bra size would be 36H. (you always bump up to the next size up for odd second numbers.) This would be a very different body shape than 43 and 41: 44B.

I knew someone would take exeption...

BK...

There are breasts and then there are *breasts*, and there's always an exception to the rule... Sounds as if you have the ultimate breasts! and sorry about the posture comment... my sad and poor attempt to understand the plight of the large breasted woman... y'all have my respect. No offense intended.

I really really wanted to give my input on breast sizes ie; 36c has virtually no meaning whatsoever without mention of stature. A lady over 6' tall would (unless she's a supermodel that really really needs to GET A SANDWICH) have very very small breasts when compared to a girl under 5' tall even though they both measured 36c.

However, Sarah (the one with open thighs) has made me really really need to disagree wholeheartedly and with a particular vehemence about the myths associated with (near) vacuum and the human body.

They DON'T explode.

There's no eye-popping. There's no guts ditributed randomly outside the body. There's especially no screaming and there is not and never will be any exploding.

The human body, when exposed to vacuum, will only explode in poorly made science fiction type films. In a similar fashion to 4 light years being a long time and being able to "Make the Kessler run in 17 parsecs".

Which only goes to prove that;

humour/jokes have to be taken at face value and not analyzed in any way, whatsoever.

Okay, I measured. I'm 31". Now what?

I'd say you look at them and say "WOW, those puppies are huge", or "Those ones are perky and ample". No need for exact measurments, I've never had a man say" I just love your 38 double D's, only "I love your big tits". Which, to me sounds better anyway.

Just my thoughts

Huh. Nobody ever said anything like that to me.

Don't forget breast size T, which is what I had during those awful junior high school - years.

(T as in T-shirt, that is...):(

Let's hear it for fat men

How do you measure the breast size of fat men who develop large bumps on their upper chest?

By bra measurement they could be DD at least to go with the eight and a half month beer belly.

The ISO should set a standard measurement.
