How do you report a thread or contact mods?

A character has made a hate thread of me in the general board. Another oneis pretending to be a moderator. I want to report them to the proper authorities for prompt action on this issue.

Report thread by clicking on the small box with the exclamation point in it. It's located right under their personal info (on the left side) in the thread.
You can contact a moderator by pming them.

AFAIK, being mean and pretending to be a moderator aren't against the rules here. Lots of people on the GB do both, and action isn't taken against them. There are entire threads where a bunch of people claim to be GB mods, FFS.

Do make sure you have a leg to stand on before you go giving the volunteer mods extra work. If you don't like the way you're being treated or find yourself too annoyed by certain people, avoid forums like the GB and/or put the members you find offensive on ignore. The mods are responsible for upholding the written rules, not policing posts to make your Lit experience as friendly and fun as possible.

But if you do see a real violation of the rules, you can report a post/thread by clicking on the exclamation mark icon on the post. In the Imagize skin, it's a small gray icon in the bottom left hand corner of each post. Click it, fill in the details on the rule you feel being violated (e.g. "This person has multiple spam threads in How To") and submit it. It'll likely be taken care of pretty quickly, but be patient.

There's a slightly different procedure for very serious issues, like death threats and malicious posting of personal info by others. These are usually things dealt with by the admins.

If so, you really don't have a leg to stand on, especially since YOU did the very same thing you're upset about (pretending to be a mod) right here. It looks like you've also made quite a few "hateful" posts on various topics. Should the Liberals of the board report you for that?

If your tender sensibilities are offended by the GB and/or such a lightly moderated site, stay away from the GB and go find yourself a site that doesn't hold free speech in such high regard. There are tons of heavily moderated boards to choose from, including Glenn Beck's and lots of Birthers boards, I'm sure. Also, people who don't post stupid shit here don't really have a problem with "hate threads," so you might want to consider upping the IQ of your posts.

I believe in everyone's right to the first Amendment (even for non-American's, who are visiting on an American website). But you seem to be on a current Obama bashing witch hunt right now. How can that help you, me, the President, or the country right now???

Or am I missing your point? If I believe in your right to express your opinion in public about other people, why should I have any feelings about what other people say about you in public?

After all, I have had several attacks on me when other members have disagreed with me. My usual reaction is to send them a polite "fuck you" PM, and then add them to my ignore list. Never gotten me in trouble with the mod's, or the site.

Freebear is clearly here to stir the pot. "You're a LIB granola grrl" is just its lame troll schtick, and your best bet is to ignore it until it gets bored and goes away.

Of course mods and admins won't take these ridiculous "hate" and "impersonation" threads seriously. If you, or Freebear, or anyone else, doesn't like what's being said, you can use the iggy function or leave the site. Mods and admins only intervene when rules are violated or things like actual death threats are made. We can basically say what we want, but so can everyone else.

Get educated. You DON'T have to be born in the U.S. to be a natural born American Citizen. People become citizens automatically by being born in the United States or born in a foreign country due to having one or two US parents. Obama's mother Ann Dumham was born in Kansas and is also a natural born citizen.

We have been having many problems in the Gb with one individual that has been saying he is a mod. He is actually harassing other members. A dew of us have been wondering what can be done about this.
