How do you get rid of?????

Sorry the only kind of remedies I know of involve lots of chemicals and you can't really use thoswhile pregger's.........you could ask the vet for some of that stuff you put on their back and makes their blood poisonous to fleas, anyway talking to the vet is where you need to start and tell him your pregnant and he'll tell you what you can do :)

DON'T USE THE STUFF THAT GOES ON THE DOGS BACK!
It absorbs into your skin too.

Hang on. I need to look some stuff up.

For the house itself you can go to walmart and pick up a pack of

"Fog Bomber's"

they come in a pack of three in a green box.

Hubby Has to set them off them you both and animals have to leave the house for five hours.

hubby then comes back and opens the windows for an ahour before you, roo, and pouchie can come back in.

it does kill living and egg for fleas and all other house creatures.

you have to set one off in each roon of the bugs will migrate to the unbombed room.

as for poocuhie himeself you can go to the vet in the states and get a 45$ shot for the poochie turns his blood toxic to fleas and stuff and last 6 months well worht it.

anyways best I can offer.

been keeping you three in me prayers

Carpet fresh seems to really help living down here on the sand. (We get those sand fleas that are super skinny along with the doggy variety with the fat, striped abdomens.) As for the dog, bathing every two or 3 days with conditioner or baby shampoo (that leaves some sort of residue) is excellent.

you can go to the pet store and buy the flea killer injections (don't know what they are called) its the same stuff the vet will give and its way cheaper. Is the house infested? if not, a simple flea powder sprinkled on the carpet, follow directions, you need to let it sit for a period of time and then vaccuum it up. If the house is completely infested, it will have to be fumigated. We hadthat happen when I was younger. All the stuffed animals, blankets, etc had to be bagged for something like 2 weeks, then taken out and washed in this stuff to kill the eggs. It was a terrible mess!

Check with your doctor and it probably should not be you doing any flea killing, all that stuff is yucky if you are pregnant!

Yep Foggers work well..........................

I work for a landlord who actually cares for his buildings and his tenants is the only reason why I know all this stuff.

growing up I had tons and tons of cats and what ever mom did we never had a flea.

I go into some of the appartments after a tenat moves out and the place is infested.

The foggers work everytime.

the sad thing we have to go over stateside to get get it thankfull its only 20 minutes away.

but due to udty chracge it takes the three of us Him, his wife and myself 3 trips back and forth to get enough for our big buildings with out having to pay the 15% duty charge on the border.

The canadian vet "VetChem" flea killer sucks so "fog Bomb is the only wa to go

fill a bowl with water and some dish soap...then place a small light over it at night time...the fleas jump in because the light draws them and they drown...a couple days later and they're gone!!! :D and it don't cost you an arm and leg :) good luck to ya :)

Wow I have never heard of that but if it works super.

I couldn't find anything in my books except for pennyroyal and you don't want to use that if you are pregnant either. Be really careful with any chemicals you use though. A neighbor recently miscarried after using head lice shampoo on her 4 year old. Coincidence? Maybe but you can't be too careful. What may be an acceptable amount off a chemical to your body might be too much for a growing fetus.

preventative

I don't know how to get rid of them but once they're gone you can buy Brewer's Yeast at any health food store and put that into their daily food; it's safe and natural, non-chemical and helps keep fleas away. I don't know how much but I"m sure you can find out about it online somewhere... ?

GOOD LUCK getting rid of them, try the soapy water/lamp trick! That's smart!

OK....maybe it's just me, but I thought it was funny that this thread is called "How do you get rid of?????" and the thread starter was "Nobody Special's wife"

reading straight across it said:

ok, i thought it was funny. :D

Go Straight To The Vet

And Get Some, ADVANTAGE!

It Does NOT Absorb Into Your Skin, But To Be Safe, Get Nobody Special Ta Do It:D The Pooches Will Be Ready Fer Lovin's In Two Hours!

If The Fleas Have Nothing To Eat, They Will Die Pretty Quick, But You Are Gonna NEED To Continue For About Three To Four Months Still, Cuz They Have Laid Millions Of Eggs In Your Clothes, Carpets And Other Various Places All Over The House. ICK:(

Kill Em' Dead!

I use Advantage on my animals.. two big dogs and 2 big cats.. anyway.. even when pregnant... i take my animals to the vet monthly.. have them bathed and the advantage put on.. that way I'm not messing with the chemicals..

as far as your house.. vaccumming is the safest way.. but remember once you vaccumm.. remove the bag.. seal it in another (plastic) bag.. and take it out to the trash.. DON'T leave it in the vaccumm.. nor in the house... the fleas will get out.. and re infest your house..

good luck:)

Check out "flea collars". A dog collar that is chemically impregnated with a pesticide. They're relatively cheap and give the dog long term prevention against reinfestation .
