...with the specific site helper who rejected a story? I have some questions about how I might rework it, and talking to someone who already read the story rather than asking someone new to read it and THEN answer my questions, seems time efficient.

Laurel owns this site, reads (or at least scans) everything, and approves or rejects ALL stories. To get in touch, just address your PM to Laurel.

What was your rejection message?

There is only one submission editor here, Laurel, who also is the site coowner. The rejection came from her and no one else. The way to directly contact her is through the Private Message (PM) system at the upper right of this page. The address name would be Laurel.

The question was not in relation to the reason for the rejection.

Not sure what you mean here. Whatever you want to say to the sole submissions editor on the Web site needs to be addressed to Laurel through a PM. Although some now claim to have received responses to e-mails, the multitudes here have declared that they never have--that the only direct conversation can be had via PM. Now, if there's a simple explanation for why something shouldn't have been rejected, you can just refile the rejected submission with whatever you want to say to the editor in the Notes box.

I was answering this question. I'm not normally in the habit of quoting everything I respond to.

Then we might not know just what you're responding to, right? It's all about clarity IMHO.

I asked about the rejection message because it's significant. Laurel reads (or scans) literally HUNDREDS of story submissions DAILY. I doubt she recalls the exact reason(s) she rejects any specific story. Your rejection message may be the only clue as to WHY. In my communications with her, she has never suggested anything about reworking my stories, but only stated her policies. A rejection notice usually includes an invitation to consult a Volunteer Editor to help the story meet LIT standards.

So, who do you address for story-reworking help? Not Laurel -- not her job. Ask an editor instead. That's what this Editor's Forum is for.

Hey Awkward. I am one of the many volunteer editors. I sent you a PM. I will try to answer your questions about rework if I can.
