I wanted to make a minor change to some of my stories I have posted. I gave credit to the editor but didn't capitalize the last letter in his nic. Well it turns out there is another person with the same nic. So I'm giving credit were it isn't due. I want to correct this a.s.a.p. but I cant find where I'm able to do this once the story is up.

I went to modify but I only get the option to change the web address of the story.

I don't even see where I could delet it and then maybe reup the story with the correction.

Or do I have to just reup it again and the old one will be rewritten once it's approved. If that is the case. Does your rating on the story start all over again.

Nice.

I just learn to let go, and leave it as it is. Most would say to get an edit done by someone on here, but even some errors are missed. On a few of my stories, the formatting of paragraphs has been screwed up beyond my control.

More than likely, as great as this site is, a simple e-mail to the great and powerful Manu - with lots of "Oh please, please, please!" - could get it taken down, allowing you to resubmit it.

I've seen a few writers on here, for the sake of tons of detail or corrections, actually have stories taken down temporarily. Others have reposted the same story with a newish title. So it can be done, at least in theory.

If I waited until a story was perfect to submit, then I would never do it. I say leave it as it is, and try and improve of the next one. That is, unless it's really, really messed up.

I do believe the rating would change, should change, as there is surely someone who rated you on the mentioned error.

One of the secret experts will know more betterer than I, though.

In case your one of those people, like me, who don't like to click links it's easy.

Just resubmit the edited story with the same name but with the word edit in the title and submit it. For a couple of days you will see both versions on your page then the edited one will replace the current one.

In case you're wondering and the link does not contain the info, your new version will have the same score votes as the original

Thanks, really, thanks.

Instructions for editing a story are in the site FAQs (which are a bit hard to find):

http://www.literotica.com/faq/05235347.shtml#05313767

Hmm, after reading just how easy it was, I just might re-submit a few, totally invalidating negative feedback, and making me eat my own words. I had stumbled across that long ago, and never looked again, 'cause storyless at the time. Now though, hoo-rah.

This is a great link, even if you are usually mean. Thank you.

Also, sr71plt, did you see 'you know who' try to one-up you?

/PayDay stops making trouble.

No I didn't, because I only take "ignore" off Lovecraft's posts when I'm in the mood to see what he's was up to on a thread. Haven't had the urge today.

Partial editing?

I don't know about the editing option. I posted two stories a few weeks ago, but then I caught a few grammar issues and things that could be phrased or formatted better. I posted the new versions a few days ago, including "EDITED" in the title like it said in the FAQ. The new posts were "pending" like any other for a few days and then disappeared.

However, I did not notice any changes to my first story and only some, but not all, changes on the second one. I get the feeling somebody was skimming over the text and only made the changes that were apparent, while the idea I got from the FAQ was there would be just a "copy" and "paste" of the entire text.

So I'm feeling a bit disappointed about the whole thing. It's not really a disaster as it is, but I tend to nit-pick on a lot of stuff and I really would have liked to see the entire text updated. Maybe I should just try again later. I would love to hear other people's experiences with this.

Go check the story you edited again.

The changes don't appear on the public side immediately. Give it at least 24 hours after the "edited" submission vanishes for a 1-3 Lit page story, and longer for longer stories. The changes can come in bits and pieces as well ( especially on longer stories )

Don't know why this is, but that's what I've observed over the last year or so. It used to be instant once the "edited" submission vanished. Don't know what changed.

Odds are, you'll see the changes are now present.

Oh, that's good to know! I'll keep an eye on it, thanks!
