I've been trying to teach my son, who plays defence, how to shoot a reliable, low slapshot and how to lead a rush from behind the net over the past few weeks. I think I need to find a Bobby Orr highlites reel somewhere.

my philosophy on whats cool:
someone who doesnt follow the crowd, they do their own thing, have an attitude (yet doesnt act pompous), and inspires a cult following, and their legacy lives on for decades.
I can only think of 5 people who fit this description-
Hendrix, James Dean, Henry Rollins, Lovecraft, and the Marquis de Sade.
There are very few who can pull this off.

Truth is I score more with wristshots, even from outside.

Yes; I was explaining the concept of early intimidation to him the other day...picking out their toughest player and leveling him early; trying to hit the goalie in the head on the first shift...all important tactics to give you the space you need to wheel.
