I've been thinking... life is so full of stress and loneliness and heartbreak and barely surviving... and living.

How do you deal with that?

Do you take long, hot bubble baths and surround yourself with candles and incense?

Do you yoga?

Do you punch things (punching bags preferably)?

Do you run? Hike? Bike? Swim?

Do you have sex? Masturbate?

Do you write? Novels? Short stories? Poetry?

I myself like to yoga or workout... at least 5 or 6 times a week I'm doing something active.

But when I can't do that, I like a good book or chatting online or just hanging out a lit.

i smoke pot or hash. it really relaxes me and takes a lot of stress off my chest.
last night i was feeling like such shit from the week, mostly from some guy thats practically dumped me even though we werent dating. so me and my friend smoked up, watched american beauty and ate a hell of a lot. when i got home i masterbated about 3 times in a row and just fell asleep. today i feel refreshed and musch better.

I read. When i read a book, i'm immersed in that world, the world around me ceases to exist.

Well I visit Lit, posting myself silly. Or I ride my bike to the beach. Great stress reducer like your yoga, being one with your surroundings and feeling the sun's warmth upon your skin, the wind in your hair.
Someimtes I get lost in a book. Sitiing for hours immersed so thoroughly that time slips away.
Never do I drink when I'm stressed or lonely tho. Its too depressing and who the hell needs that added sorrow?
I don't do any drugs, so that's out as well.

-kym- involved with a Tim Dorsey novel now :)

I play the piano, meditate, go to my favorite beach, work out at the gym or eat something...

Books, Playing UO (if I don't get ganked), reading lit, sometimes just sitting somewhere quiet & relaxing helps me to stop screaming.

First I try and remember that which does not kill me hopefully will make me stronger. I try and also eat well, get plenty of sleep and dress to do anything at moment’s notice.

I have a lot of stress, and a series of continuous losses that I have yet to catch up on.
When I am alone I tend not to get lonely, I guess I like my own company okay, but when I am in some sort of relationship and they go away or are gone I miss them a lot even though I have other guys in my life. People are not replaceable to me, friends, lovers are just not positions to be filled, I don't like confusion or disharmony, I like everything clear, no games.

I guess the best thing is to build a support system, cultivate all the friends you have, be open to new people and accepting because when the bad stuff happens you
never know which of them will be there, and if you are lucky they will all be, but usually it is the ones you never suspected who are there for you, like the 90 yr. master gardener who I discovered yesterday had tilled and weeded our plot for my gardening partner and me.

Your system should include lots of different people not just people of your age and abilities. I like to do a lot of things but after a few accidents I was physically
unable to do what I most liked to do, and I was lucky to have friendships that did not depend on that. Most of all you need people who can make you laugh and accept you however you may be.

Things I have done to deal with stress:
Get dressed in the morning! swim, drive, walk, clean the house, chop vegetables,
garden, read, listen to music, watch movies, write poems, play with children, guinea pigs, take showers, change sheets, travel, go to the zoo, ride the local carrousel, hear live music, belly dance, write, paint, candles, fountains, massages. Paint my toe nails matador red.
I can escape into sex easily. Sleep, good food, warm showers and sex are the best.
Go snoop shopping- looking at high end RTW and investigate the clothes with a critical how-can-I-knock-this-off eye, my favorites are Zoran, Eskandar right now, and Chanel-always Chanel.
Eat dim sum and strawberry crepes
Call, chat, email or see my friends
Go to museums and do art dates
Sometimes I can design, sew, tailor or string pearls but lately I have been too distracted to focus my mind on that.
Go to gallery openings, art crawls, music anywhere that there might be interesting people to distract you and free food ;)
I always try to stop the stress, resolve any problems and remove any reminders of the stress from my sight.
Listen to Al Stewart, everything is better with Al
Sometimes I just go hang with someone else for the day, do everything with him or her.
Be there for other people, this is very important, some times you find that your problems are nothing in comparison and that by helping them you feel better, more productive.
Talk to people about the stress, brainstorm ways to solve it or make it easier

Wow... I feel less stressed already reading everyone else's ways of relaxing! Some things I never thought of trying that seem like they'd be really enjoyable. :D

The weather has been really bumming me out lately. Last week Mon and Tues were fairly nice and sunny (the first in about a week long series of cold and rain) and I managed to get a couple good bike rides in. Then the rain and cold came back and has continued.... rain and cold expected for the next 5 days. *frowns* The gym was closed today so I couldn't really go there...

But tomorrow is another day. :D And I plan on getting some quality sleep tonight.

I read

I write..short stories, erotica, lesson plans, my journal

I talk to my friends

I have a new someone special who I can spend time with

I eat comfort food

I watch mindless tv

I cuddle my cat, when she lets me

edited to add...and of course I masturbate

Number one way of dealing: Sleep
When you're asleep time flies by and you don't have to think about it.

A close second is reading like a few of you have said, the whole world fades away when I'm immersed in a book.

mastubaste. in the morning and at night. Keeps me rather relaxed.

Some reason things don't bother me as much.

Then there is sex.......sex.....

I also draw or read or listen music. I find when i draw or play a video game and i am really into it. my mind will be completly relaxed and empty.well empty with a videogame or movie.

Yeah this post is all over the place but i am horny. so i dunno.

Masturbation is one great diversion!

Beyond that for me, anything physically stimulating can be a release for me. I work out, climb, run, jog, & hike alone. As far as the loneliness factor, I hardly consider that a problem- I'm pretty gregarious & can usually hook up with friends to cure that. I've also found that joining up with other total strangers for like causes & charitable events has spawned some wonderful friendships as well as some incredibly stimulating relationships.:D

let me see.....at one time i would go out and have a few pints....found that made things worse.....now i try to do something outside....blading, biking, and running when the weather permits driving fast the other 7 months.....reading a book and masturbation help.....and gotta listen to some tunes

If beating the children isnt an option at the time......;)

I read.

Nothing can get me away from my problems faster than getting lost into a story.

The most important thing to me is not to think too deeply about it and just do things.

Vacuuming?????

i didn't get this one either. Yet i guess people can relax cleaning.

i forgot to answer th lonely part, well when iwas lonely seeing how i am seeing someone now, i would um.......just do the same. I would talk online and draw. Play games. Watch tv. BLah blah. I don't try to think of the dark ages that often anymore.

btw UnseenChagrin i want to fuck you, i want to fuck you fast, i want to fuck you slow, i want to make you glow. HEHE

i totally agree with you pink. Doing things by yourself was always best when i was a tad younger. There is so much more control in what you are doing.

........oooooooooommmmmmmm............

(deep cleansing breath)

.......oooooooooommmmmmmm..........

(repeat)
