How do people get images to appear in their messages ?

How can I get an image to appear directly in this message ?

I tried clicking the IMG button and inserting the following link - but the link shows up as opposed to the picture itself

Not an expert on the forum software by any means, but placing an image directly into a post has probably been disabled by the admin. It causes a lot of bandwidth problems, especially with forums that have large numbers of users viewing threads.

Hi there

for the picture to appear in the post, and not as an attachment, it have to be on the web somewhere.

If it is on the web, then you click the "IMG" button above the field you type your reply in, and then enter the link to the picture, and that way it'll appear in the post.

It's very simple. Just put IMG tags aroung the URL of the pic you wnat to post. So if you wanted to post a pic with the URL http://the.animearchive.org/lodoss/1/lds1a_02.jpg, then you would just type in <IMG>http://the.animearchive.org/lodoss/1/lds1a_02.jpg</IMG>, with [ and ] replacing the < and the >. Like this.

Fiona I think it's because when you link to a image on Lit, the board doesn't post the image itself, but only a link.

Lets see if this can help you. I have a picture of one my tattoos here:

Now if I want to put the image in the post I can do 2 things.

1. Click the "IMG" button above the reply field, and enter the addy to my picture

2. type [ img ] "addy to the image" [ /img ] (without the blank space before and after "img" and it'll show up in the post

And then it'll look like this:
