How do I submit stories with polls?

I want to submit two versions of the same story - one is in the I/you voice and the other in the third person with an "I" narrator. I want to see which version "works" better, if at all. I know that I can do this simply by leaving it up to readers to vote on their preference and see which story ends up with a higher rating or amount of votes (though this is never scientific what with trolls and such) - but I am told I can have a poll function added which might result in a more accurate picture. Unfortunately I don't know how to do this and don't see it mentioned anywhere in FAQville, etc. Does anyone know how this works? Thank you.

I just heard from Laurel

Polls are regarded as links to an external site, and are prohibited.

A poll would have to be done through the public comment system or something similar.

Ah, thank you! Then I guess I will have to do it my own makeshift way, with a note in the preface of each story alerting people to the presence of the mirror version, and let people vote with their feet, so to speak.

A slightly tidier way would be to put a comment in each preface saying that there is a Poll on one of the forum threads (specifying the forum and the thread) and asking people to vote there. Make the thread title easily spottable, and put it (I think) on Story Ideas, since you are asking for votes on different ideas.

Thanks, Snooper. That's a good idea however I'm not sure it would work for everyone. For example many readers of stories here are people who come to Literotica just to do that, and are not registered to post in the forums. I'm not sure if voting on a forum poll would require registration but if it does I think that's asking way too much of a person who just pops in to read stuff.

Not only would they have to vote on the story - well they don't have to but you know what I mean - but then they'd have to go somewhere else, probably register and vote on a poll. Wouldn't that be too much work? :rose:
