How do I close a story/thread?

It's only the moderators that can close a thread, you don't have that option yourself.

Why not just go back in there under the Edit feature & delete the whole thing?

Although you can edit your post to a thread to virtually nothing, You can't go ahead and erase a whole thread - which is (I think) being asked here. You could edit the content, but the the following posts would remain.

Best to leave it alone and let it fall into obscurity (believe me).
