Is there a number I can call, or an icon I can click on to start the process? Can I finish out the month?

when i called to cancel, they gave me 2 months free..... said they were sorry i dodnt enjoy aol, and 2 months to check out ALL the features.... ive herd about them doing this to several other people ands its basicly impossible to cancel, everytime you call they keep giving you free time...... well, usually

Funny how, when you have AOL as your ISP, you can't seem to find their disconnection info ANYWHERE on the internet. Coincidence?
Sorry i can't give you a number, but just try any customer service line you can find.

Interesting. What's the number to call?
Canceling your AOL account

You may call 1-888-265-8008. (We recommend calling. AOL has been offering to extend a free month of service to customers--just for calling their Cancellations department. And, they've done it in successive months.)
You may mail your request to them at:
America Online
P.O. Box 1600
Ogden, UT 84401
You may fax your request to them at 801-622-7969.
If you choose to write or fax, please include your full name, address, phone number, America Online master screen name (the primary user name on your account) and the nature of your request. Cancellation will take effect within 72 hours of receipt of your request. AOL will send you written confirmation. If you cancel near the end of your billing period, you may be inadvertently charged for the next month's fee. In that event, contact AOL Billing at 1-888-265-8003 to have the charges reversed

Another thing thats interesting ... unless they changed it .. try to find uninstall in AOL ... You can't? It doesn't exist ....

Thats why I tell people AOL is the "big virus" for computers ... you can't uninstall it.

For Windows users, you simply go to your control panels, select AOL, and hit "Uninstall"
It sweeps it right off
Nice & simple

Now in the past, AOL was demanding a certified letter return reciept to some unfindable address. Then the FTC stepped in and got a consent decree. The same is true of Earthlink -- I finally got them stopped when I changed my bank account!

I suggest manually removing your hard drive from your computer, soaking it in gasoline, and burning it. At least, that's what I would do if I ever had to use a computer infected with AOL.

Honestly, I'd have to say your best bet is to format every drive to make sure you get rid of the damn thing. Every program produced by AOL is at best a virus, and at worst a worm.

Of course, there may be other options. But none as effective and painless as burning your hard drive and getting a new one.

send them an e-mail telling them that on a set date you will stop the payment to them

I agree I used to be with AOL and was having trouble cancelling so in the end I just stopped payment they soon cancelled then.
