This thread has been done, but there are many new posters here since the last thread.
I came here because of a vision. I saw the name Literotica. It was late one night, and I was sleeping at the computer when the vision came to me. Others tell me that I was probably half asleep when I found the site. No. It was a vision.
I stay because of crudillionitis z.

One day someone IM'ed me and said they loved my story and I should check out Literotica. I did, and that was on Valentines 2002, after my online ( meaning, NOT REAL) BF had dumped me, I wallowed in self pity, Whaaaa then wrote a couple of really pornographic stories and submitted them



I stay because I love many of the people and actually like a lot of them and the rest just keep the place interesting.

I feel at home here is the real reason, most people here know Im a half bubble off plumb, and they dont hold it against me

I am going to resist the urge to post a smart ass answer....

Came here after a friend suggested I write erotic stories and pointed me here. (This sounds familiar!) Found the poetry by accident.

The first reasons I stayed more than a breeze through visit were:
Perks mentioned my poem in the New Poem Review, I had not written in 2 years and was coming out of a long depression... Tess told me in my first pm to turn on my public comments, and when I did, I found support and encouragement and good advice. Rybka, and Jim and sp welcomed me, denis hale intrigued me, I just had to dig into his brain, Maria and Lauren IM'd me and were so sweet, and truth be told it was what I needed to pull me out of the lowest spot I have ever been in. I fell in love with the writing of WickedEve and 2Rivers, was impressed by the talents of Angeline and darkmaas and others. I told my husband, "There are real poets in there!" I wanted to become a better writer, and thought this might be a place I could do that. All the sex flying around took my mind off my worries.

I still stay because:

~there is so much to fall in love with here, and I am addicted to falling in love.
~I feel creative freedom and support here unlike any other place I have been.
~the people, people, people

I am a touch dyslexic. Or a lex dystopic—I forget. I thought this was a site named "Literratica," which describes my taste in reading rather well. After some confusion over the fact that most of the stories seemed to be about sex—I read quite a few just to make sure I hadn't made some mistake—I stumbled upon the Poetry Forum.

I found quite a number of writers posting poems of very high quality. Thought I would give writing poems a try. See if I could learn something.

Which I think I have, though others may disagree. I also enjoy much of the "conversation," which if you blank out the occasional flame war, is both interesting and intelligent. Then there is the added spice of trying to figure out the angle from which Eve shot the photo in whatever avatar she is currently using. That always makes for a pleasant half-hour's speculation.

I have particularly found some of the writing exercises helpful—especially the "Perfect Ten" thread and Anna's "100 Words" thread.

The poetry forum at Literotica was suggested to me, by someone who loves me and I love, as a place where I might begin doing something I had stopped doing for a while, writing, in an atmosphere of support and acceptance . . . and also as a place of camaraderie that might help me dig my way out of a hole I had fallen into.

I stay because, as anna said, there are some real poets here, who have now also become friends.

It often makes a lot of sense to leave, but when I try I feel the magnets.
