How can you tell if people are enjoying what you have written?

Pour Yourself Into Someone Else...

And step on Shellz later...Shhhhhh...

Its tough. I rely on comments from friends mostly.

Feedback and reads of my stories seem to mostly come within the first couple weeks of it first getting posted here.

try to figure out what, if any, kind of formula out there works for other stories, and try to emulate those in certain ways.

The ONLY people that have ever read my stories, have been one of my cousins, male, and my fiance, one each, though I've got several. The story to my cousin was a celebrity story, and the one my fiance read was about her & I.

Now I just need to look up the back-up archives to find them again.

If you don't get any feedback, that doesn't necessarily mean that no one likes them, just that the people reading them don't care for personal contact with the author I would imagine.

if people don't vote on your stories, and don't send feedback, how do you know if what you have written has appealed to anyone?

I'm pretty sure that's your answer.

LOL

DCL, you mean, mean, mean thing...

I read the stories fairly regularly, but rarely send a personal message to the author. I guess that's bad, and I'll try to do that now, but everything I think of to say sounds soooooo patronizing...

I always vote on the stories I've read, though. Does that count?

I wasn't referring to anyone in particular. But if no one's responding to your story then no one's responding to your story. Sure there are plenty of people who don't give feedback or vote, but if you get absolutely nothing, well, then...

I don't.

I don't actually care that much anymore either. People will either like it or not. Since this particular "ezine" isn't terribly picky about their erotica content, I feel free to write whatever kind of story I like, providing it follows two rules. 1) No minors in sexual situations and 2) It's got sex of some sort in it. Other than that, I don't know if people like it or not. I usually assume not because my ratings are terrible. I've rationalized it though, it's not the writing, it's the sex in it. Most of my email goes along the lines of
"Great story! I just didn't get off."

So, I don't actually know if my erotic writings appeal to the mass or not.

It sure is easy to tell if people don't like what you wrote. ;) Every once in a while I have a compunction to send PC a pm telling him he makes me laugh my ass off, so I imagine he knows. Sometimes people tell you right in the thread that they liked it, I loved DCL's Lit Side Story and said so. It's not a mystery really. :)

The thing that REALLY bugs me is when someone has something nice to say, but doesn't say it. I remember tat the first person to read one of my stories gave it a 5. DAMN!!!!! I wish they sent feedback. It's VERY rare that I get a 5. Or even a 4. Usually the average for my stories is 3.
