How can a person hurt you so much when they say they love you?

If you ever find the answer, please let me know. I've been looking for that answer for a very long time.

for me sometimes it's cuz the hurter doesn't know how much he means to me, how every move he makes imprints my heart

Kinda like the phrase "You only hurt the ones that love you"--never quite been able to fathom that one myself...AA

usually because you 'love' them.......

everything they do has a poignant effect. Sometimes the word 'love' can also mean 'owning' in some people's eyes; that is what I have found in the past. If they are bitter they then wish for their 'lover' to be hurt too.
It matters most how much you care for them for their hurt to penetrate.:rose:

Not everyone has the same perception of what love is.

While for some love is sharing, to others it's all about ownership. And not all owners are good owners. They can be very cruel, and use the pain as a means of manipulation.

If this is the kind of relationship that you've come from hon, be proud of yourself that you broke free. Cos it aint easy.

I am still with him.

Stupidly I stay...

Love is not stupid. Blind, yes, and forgiving and accepting... not always the best things. But the decision to stay or go is one that each of us has to make on our own. But please, at least think about it. Yes it will hurt to get out, but you deserve so much more that that and it's out there for you.
