seriously. i'm christmas shopping, i have no idea and i's poor so i don't want to buy a huge one for too much when a smaller one that costs less will work. right now i'm looking at a 4.5 qt slow cooker for twenty bucks that would be great if it's big enough, but is it? anyone know?

well, never mind. stupid phone calls coming seconds after i post my thread making my question irrelevant...

I use a 4.5 quart for pretty much everything I do for our family of four. It just depends on how big a roast you are going to have and for how many people. If you are going to have a bigger roast and veggies like potatoes carrots in with it I suggest a 6 quart.

The one I use the most for us is the 4.5 quart and that is a good price.

apparently it's an 8qt roast, but it's all good. my broke ass and some other broke ass are just going halfsies on a bigger, better one.

As big a roast as ytou can stuff in it. 4.5 qt is a decent size. How many people will be served from it might be something to think about. I would say a 5 pound roast will fit in the 4.5 easily.

I have an 8 litre slow cooker, and sometimes find it's not quite big enough.

it's for my mother. she's old. when she cooks for two she generally makes enough for five just because she can.
