I went to the eye Dr today. Both eyes got slightly worse and I now need bifocals, +1.50. I'm anxious for them to come in so I can see to crochet now. It was to the point where I was taking my glasses off and holding my crochet up really close OR leaving my glasses on and holding my crochet far away. Either way, it was hard to enjoy my crochet. I've pretty much stopped.

Do you wear glasses? Do you have bifocals too?

go to a supermarket and get some + 1.50 off the shelf till yours arrive.

I'd have to wear them OVER my original glasses in order to actually be able to see.

Just wearing the +1.50 glasses by themselves doesn't work because I am so blind.

BIfocals take getting used to. I got the "seamless" kind, so they don't show as bifocals. But there is an area between where you look for distance vision and where you look down for close vision that is weirdly blurry. Until I trained myself to flick past it quickly, it kind of made me nauseous. And it was damned hard at first to catch a football if it dropped below eye level. Oh! And stairs. Going down stairs was weird at first also.

The good news is you get used to all of it.

perfect! unfortunately. because i so want to wear glasses and look überchic.

Yes I do and, one lense is about 275 mag I believe. But they are progresives and actually not to bad. Really messes with depth perception though. No high wire anymore.

I have a prescription for progressive lenses (aka bifocals) but opted to get regular lenses. I wanted split up my benefits for eyeglasses and contacts.

I have +1.50 reading glasses for when I wear my contacts but otherwise, I just remove my eyeglasses to see up close. (I recently bought 6 pairs for cheap as I used a gift voucher towards it.)

If I'm too lazy to remove them, I just look over the top my glasses to see the laptop screen and through my glasses for the tv.

I've always worn glasses. Now I have bifocals.

When I was little I had to wear a patch over one eye. Six year old pirate is not chic. I've gotten over it though because tripping over oneself, also not chic.

Put it this way....
A couple of years ago I visited the premier eye hospital in the country, looking into the possibility of corrective laser surgery.
After testing, the Dr sat me down and said "We won't touch you."

I can't do bifocals - they make me throw up.
So I have two pairs of identical frames, one with normal vision lenses and one with reading/closeup work lenses.
I also wear contacts (mainly in winter coz I hate getting raindrops on my glasses) but the best they correct is to 95%.

I hope you're one of the lucky ones who can use bifocals.... many times I wished I didn't need to switch between frames!

5-6 months ago I bought my first reading glasses, but I can never find them. It's usually when I absolutely need them is when I'm tired.

I actually like the way they look, I'm comfy with my new librarian look.

I wear glasses because I'm short sighted but my eyesight is still pretty bad. I need thicker and thicker lenses but my eyes adjust to them after a couple of months, so they're good for a bit then they go back to the way they were. So I stopped getting new ones. So I wear glasses but I still have to squint at the tv.

Most of the day I don't wear glasses. Today I was pointing out objects on the horizon over 30 miles away.

I have glasses for driving when I am going out of town. They make a difference when I am looking half a mile or more ahead, and if I drive for an hour or so without them I get a headache.

I have another set of glasses focused at the distance I sit from the computer screen. They mean I can waste more time posting on Literotica.

For reading, I use cheap reading glasses at 1.50, bought from ASDA (UK version of Walmart) at 2 pounds for two pairs. I have four pairs and usually have a pair in my shirt pocket.

I sympathize. My lenses are quite strong. A couple of prescriptions back I asked the store clerk if I could have glass lenses. He just laughed and said that I wouldnt be able to hold my head for the weight. Funny but rude.

I'm blind without my contacts. Found out that my astigmatism is so bad I may not be able to continue wearing them.

Right now, everything is blurry. Wish the lenses would come in.

36 inches or more from my face my vision is still 20-20, inside 36" 1.50 reading glasses.

Pretty bad now. Presbyopia. In 1983, I passed the US Navy's pilots' test. Top Gun. In the interim, my arms seem to have gotten shorter.

I've worn glasses for over a decade now. I've gone from needing lenses for distance only to now wearing progressive lenses. It took me a few days to get used to the glasses, but now I don't even notice that I incline my head up or down to help my eyes focus depending on distance.

I said that too, up until a week ago.

The last two dozen or so books I've read have been on my laptop (Kindle emulator). I actually bought a hardback book last Thursday and it's a pain in the miles to read. I have to hold a 900-plus page book in order to get just the right angle with the progressive lenses. I can only read about 50 pages or so at a time this way.

OS -6.50
OD -6.75

Let's just say, without glasses or contact, I have natural beer goggles.

-2.50 in my left eye.
-2.75 in my right eye.

Bad, but at least it doesn't seem to be getting any worse.

I have bat-like hearing, so that helps.
